They sure don't have a problem with "re-votes" if the outcome is not to their liking, keep the quorum and kwtitchebitchin.

Wow. With a town so eager to stop any improvement to their own infratructure are you seriously worried about having a quorum. You can't have a meeting to review the towns business affairs? Who really cares since the basic needs are not even on the agenda. I heard you guy's have a elementary school that is dangerous to even walk in yet your worried about whether or not to have a rule on quorum?

"It's really not a question of eliminating the quorum, but finding a way to get people to come to the meetings."

this is really the main point. The fact that people are so disgusted with politics is the problem, and changing the quorum number to 0 will make people like the government even less because it is obvious that these people just want to push through their own agendas without public approval

The question of having a quorum is nothing new - in the 1950s we had little trouble getting a quorum with a half the present town population. When there was a problem some of those present would call families and friends until a quorum was reached. It is necessary to keep the quorum so there is an open dialog with voters.

I would say that the town must get rid of the quorum. If you keep the quorum and put items such as the Briggs Vote at the end...all someone has to do is make a motion to move the Briggs vote as the next item to be considered. After it goes down, and everyone leaves, the meeting will end and all can go home. The best place for Ashburnham to conduct business is to not conduct business!

to Angry- why should the State take over- the people of Ashburnham should just start getting involved- it is the same people over and over again at the meetings- the people should go to the meetings! And make real decisions on the future of the town- The State is a mess- how do you think they can help Ashburnham- please- How is the hope and change working for you?
