In this economy, when there are thousands of companies that would handle the project within the scope of the contract without breech, Tasca should just be fired from the project all together. Give the contract to a company that will do it's OWN work (cheaper in the end).

I would figure that Mass highway wouldn't want Tasco Corp doing anymore jobs for them. Look at how long it took them to do a simple intersection in Leominstert (Hamilton Street and Crawfrod Street). Watching them work was like a comedy of errors.

Same problem with the RT3 widening project, the firm who won the contract went way over budget, and folded, and was replaced with another contractor.

And same issue with the Winter Street Bridge over RT 128 in Waltham, 3 contractors all went over budget, and were replaced. A 2 year project is going on 10 years, and still isn't done.

What ever happened to MA Highway's policy of fining a company $x thousand dollars for every day they went over budget and schedule.

Oh I forgot, major construction firms like Roads Corporation and Cashman, who built the Big Dig, are also major contributors to Deval Patrick and the Democratic Party's campaigns.

Can you imagine what would have happened if Jen Shenk and the neighbors hadn't mobilized to get the local elected officials off the backsides ...

Too bad Michaud wasn't around a year ago to say something ...

Rep "Big Lew" and Selectmen Fairbanks had no clue this was a problem ... and it was at a stand still for a year.

Selectman Hay drives by it every day ... how did he miss it?

O'Toole ... "Tool" ... that says is all.

Josh Hall & his crew had to drive around it for a year ... why didn't they start raising a stink?

Oh yeah, political capital ... don't rock the boat in your happy little group because South Street is more important in your priorities ...

Westminster needs leaders that pay attention, think ahead, and speak up!

Talk about milking a job.I drive Route 3 to Billerica everyday, during the widening of that road. The construction crew spanned the Concord river in both directions in half the time these clowns have completed 36% of this little dink of a bridge. And it is a pain in the butt to drive around it.

I think you need to check your facts.Modern Continnetal handled the Route 3 project from start to finish.Traffic was never rerouted during that whole project.I thought they did a remarkable job considering the amount of daily traffic on that road.I I don't know how many bridges were replaced,It was all of them though. It didn't take 2 years to do it though.

I just heard they are going to be putting up a temp bridge to get people across while they build the new bridge. The temp bridge will be ready next year sometime in June.

The Winter Street Project in Waltham is over budget and way behind schedule. I got my facts from the Boston Globe, who did a spotlight investigation of the project. Jay Cashman's outfit is also in line to get most of the work, if the Cape Wind Farm project
ever takes off...
