Well now that the Mayor and the City Council are po'd at Unitil I hope they will be a visible presence at the next anti Unitil forum. Rep. Dinatale and Councilor Dinatale are really the only consistent elected officials at any of the anti Unitil grassroots demonstrations and forums. The rest are self serving talking heads, and quite frankly just like to hear themselves ruminate at the council meetings.
What is the Mayor doing to push for Muni choice legislation? Stop letting Unitil buy cheap PR for doing little "nice" things for the city. Unitil's perfectly timed Good Will is so transparent it is pathetic. Wake up people, and demand your council and mayor step up their attack on Unitil. Call city hall today.

This is true and our political leaders have an obligation to be directly involved. This is their job description. The governor and the Lt. overnor will be in Worcestor on Sunday. If I get the chance I will explain our cities need for him to intervene.

We need to do this study concerning cost savings in reference to a muni electric company. I personally feel that this would be beneficial to Fitchburg as Fitchburg would be able to hire locals to run the business as well as all the employees needed for repair service, ect.

After this study, we then need to approach Unitil with the results and give them an opportunity to beat the cost of electricity and gas that the study finds. The cost is way out of control! Then I would ask the governor to replace the entire governing board that overseas the Monopoly that Unitil enjoys!

I agree. Mrs. Clark is a great advocat for lunenburg. They are trying to oust unitil. Fitchburg is doing nothing. They keep raising our taxes, but what do we see in return... Nothing. Fifth mass turnpike still full of trash, where is the money from the lights that were shut off. O yea someones pocket or salary (mayor wong). There is so much money going into city hall that it is miss managed. I can't wait for the market to turn so I can move out of this town.
We were waiting for the same thing; to sell and get out of here. The only thing we saw was our home value dropping drastically and putting us under water. We looked into a short sale and although the process was a little stressful, we got out of here. The house sold, we weren't held responsible for the debt forgiveness and there was no deficiency noted on our credit history. We bought another home two months later. There's options for hard working, honest people that have been negatively affected by the downturn of the local economy.

I don't understand why a relative of mine in the next town over pays over 50% less for their utilities. Why are they allowed to charge so much? There isn't any regulation or anything?

For whatever reason, if a city OWNS the lights, the cost is almost HALF of what it is if the pwer provider owns the lights, The onlt snag here is finding an electrical contractor to maintain them.

i think the mayor of fitchburg, ma. is a real ****,****, who thinks it's o.k. for her to shut of our city street lights, thats not right my sister got bit by a neighhood dog cause she could not see it coming.
Now now, no name calling! I feel that she needed to address the citizens of Fitchburg concerning their sacrafices that they had to endure due to these lights being shut off! But please don't call her names as she is a polite person and will conversate with you without using bad language!

I agree that the lights now need to be put back on as like Water street, it is dark and dangerous without lights! There have been multiple near death misses of hitting people in the dark.
