Is it possible to place a motion on the floor to take the Briggs matter out of order?

even if the Briggs article is voted on first- and everyone leaves the meeting and a count of people is requested and there are not enough to fulfill the quorem- then anything voted on is null and void- so why not just vote on it last so eveyone is still there to satisfy the quorem. This is not only to handle school business but the entire towns business. Town Meetings are twice a year, people need to make that choice to committ and vote for the best interest of the town.

It's sad that so many people have an issue with the school, yet don't care about anything else in town. If you are only going to Town Meeting just to vote against the school, then don't go at all, or move to another town where you care about everything that goes on, not just what's on your personal agenda.

I don't have a problem with going to Town Meeting or even having to stay until the end. My gripe is doing this on a week night when 1.) some of us still with jobs are just getting home and have work in the morning and 2.) some of us have school age kids and don't want to keep them up sitting through 20 articles.(And I'm not leaving them with the Oakmont kids when they have homework to do.)
Why can't you have Town Meeting on Saturday AND ask all those town and school groups to cancel their activities until later in the day. And this Special Town Meeting wouldn't stand a chance at a quorum if there wasn't something about the schools on it.
I'm tired after a long day, and the last thing I want to sit through is a bunch of people filled with vendettas on both sides getting into a whining match. That is all Ashburnham has been like for the past fifteen years (who we're going run out of town; vote down everything; what department didn't do what when we voted their request down). I'm not thrilled to lose a Saturday for it, but at least I go to the Saturday spring ones.

Whenever the town meeting is, all residents should make their best effort to attend.

This is our community and we need to make decisions about all facets of the town. We need to take care of our old, our young, our safety and our physical space plus much more!

As a 20 year resident, I am utterly amazed at the lack of participation on either a weeknight or weekend.

I do agree that on town meetings days/evenings, all school/town sports/activities should be cancelled. It not only affects parents, but those residents who are helping to run those activities.
