When you are mention that Correction Officers have to deal with the scum in our prisons every day, I assume that you are referring to having to deal with the OTHER Correction Officers.....
This guy was going through a terrible time in his life. He was losing everything. Yes he should have handled it differently and thank god no one else was hurt. I am sad to know that Mike died in this terrible situation also. I went to school with him and he was a good guy in school obviously something went wrong.
Yes he had to deal with scum of the earth for over 20 years that can do things to people and make them change. I come from a family of law enforcement and correction officers and I do not like when people like you call them scum. If it was not for these scum (officers) then these criminals would be on the streets and maybe they will be coming after you. These correction officers and police officers put their lives on the line every minute they are working for that matter even when they aren't. So it is only ignorant people that call law enforcement individuals scum.

Here we go! Here is the ol' "they put their lives on the line everyday" comment! But, you even take this nonsense one step further and say that they are putting their lives on the line every minute, whether they are working or not! Wow!

How the ef are they all putting their lives on the line everyday? Jeeze, it is common knowledge that more then half of our nation's cops work out of the station itself and they are not even working the streets. How the ef are they putting their lives on the line all day? I guess that the building itself could suddenly fall in on them; or they could buy an expired sandwich from the vending machine and get food poisoning. But, other than that, I see no risk whatsoever for the bulk of them.

As far as our Corrections Officers; countless are nothing more than criminals themselves. We all know that the CO's themselves are responsible for most of the drugs and weapons that are floating around in our prison system. Again, countless CO's are criminals and they are on "the take".

Channel 7 News just ran a story this morning. The nurses in our nation's hospitals are getting attacked and injured on the job at rates way higher than those in Law Enforcement. Law Enforcement has it made, compared to any other group of workers; or citizens for that matter. Law Enforcement is heavily armed and they can quickly call in assistance from others in Law Enforcement in the blink of an eye; who can speed through our towns and cities to their fellow lawmen's defense. No other group of workers or people have that advantage.

Yes, I must admit that as a whole; being involved in Law Enforcement or being a CO is a fairly safe job. The leading cause of deaths in law enforcement is accidents caused by the lawmen themselves. They do not fall prey to a criminal as often as they cause their own demise. And, that is a documented fact. And, don't even get me started on the countless perks that our lawmen receive; both above board and below...These guys and girls have it made!

Certainly, what you meant to say was "the minority of those involved in law enforcement have the potential of being involved in a life threatening situation on the job". If you try to lay it on any heavier than that; it is nothing but crapola.....

As long as we are discussing our nation's Correction Officers, I have a late breaking story to share.

On 10/28/09 it was announced that 5 Virginia CO's have bben charged with fondling a K-9 and filming the incident. They actually did this on two seperate occasions.

Kevin Thompson 25, who works at the Green Rock Corrections Center in Chatham VA apparently performed sexual acts on the K-9 with his hand; while his fellow CO pals video taped the fun and merriment. Thompson has been charged in the incident, along with Melvin Boone 40, who worked at the state prison in Sussex County; Adam R Webb 27 and Cheri Campbell 35 who work at Nottoway Correction Center; and Anthony Eldridge 33, a sergeant who worked at Nottoway.

Just a bunch of real stand up, fun loving guys and girls........

It will come out that he killed himself. He was a good and funny guy. Much better than the scum he gaurded.
Nope taken out by the cops before he could hurt anyone. Best outcome for all involved.

Let me guess! You're on parole and anyone who wears a badge is scum, right? Anytime a thread opens up regarding Police your eyes light up and the blood in your face starts boiling. You should purchase a large dog crate so you can finally get some sleep in comfort!

No, I am not on parole. And no, police chit chat does not make my blood boil. And no, I do not feel that anyone who wears a badge is scum. But, I sure as heck do not feel that anyone who wears a badge is a Hero. Or, that they must be pure as the driven snow. There are plenty of corrupt cops and co's out there, and there are plenty of sickos in the ranks as well.

And, I sleep quite well in my own comfy bed....

Civil Servant Supporter,

Boy, you were really on a roll with your posts. You must be bored or more likely you are overly concerned over what I am saying here on Topix. So you are trying as hard as you can to discredit me. Of course it's all nonsense; but you are now on a roll and I can't stop you. So, go ahead and fire away with your posts. Get it out of your system. You will feel better if you do; even if it accomplishes nothing whatsover. Keep em' coming!

As a rule I don't go to the Moderators. I can fight my own battles; especially here on Topix Forum. The feeble attacks on me are to be expected. These same people have been trying to discredit me for months. And, they have fallen short.

Let the record stand "Darn Tootin does not go running to the Moderators and Darn Tootin does not go running to the cops. Darn Tootin can stand up on his own two feet". I have not seen anything come along that I could not handle myself! I would not bother going through the effort to have someone removed from posting on Topix Forum. But, my enemies are trying to get me removed. How petty can you get!
