Pay no attention to that stop sign, the local cops are running radar on 140 after the 40 mph sign. They make far more off speeding tickets than stop sign ignorami.

It is not the fact that there is construction it is the fact that they take years to do what as you mention Lawrence did in half the time.

Probably 4 years in Massachusetts is more like it, can't have those road details end in only 2 years. If this was NH, it would probably be done in a month

Maybe Mayberry/Westminter should stop taking Tyco's property taxes if they can't provide a safe road for Tyco employees to drive home on. Most towns would be thrilled to have that many more cars going by their downtown businesses daily.

What a Stooge. Tyco employees go out the back gate and bypass the center of town. They race up the side streets and don't spend a dime at local businesses.

Your true colors are showing ...green. Are you jealous that we choose to live in a nice town with good people. If that makes us yuppies then yes we are. We choose to live without the crime rate of other towns such as Fitchburg. That is horrible of us huh?

Why would anyone be jealous with Westminster and Ashburnham taxing their residents to death and providing so little for it. I've known several people that found the taxation completely ridiculous in Westminster and moved out.

Nothing there to be jealous about, and if you had worthy businesses to purchase things...we would.

You call the Chinese Food place chinese food? It is disgusting, but typical for a town that couldn't possibly know what Chinese food really is.

Meanwhile, keep up the good work in Ashburnham where we keep reading about the towns collapse...yup, sure am jealous!

Name one surrounding town/city that isn't in the same boat that Westminster is? Dropped Real Estate prices across the entire state have resulted in a higher tax burden for everyone. If you think Gardner (Fitchburg lite) or Leominster, or any other Town in the area are better than Westminster you're an idiot. Financially Westminster is in better shape than any of its neighbors.

Guess you missed the recent news about Leominster taxes spiking up recently. Give up half the town for retail and what did it get them? Nuthin but traffic, congestion, low paying jobs and higher taxes. YAY! At least they don't yank out a few teeth if you buy a house there, unlike Gardner

They should be local workers doing the job. The Union has destroyed everything!

Didn't miss it at all, and I never said that our taxes haven't all increased. Try to keep up. I just said there isn't any reason for anyone to be jealous of Westminster. The "townies" need to stop winmpering about a little traffic and grow a backbone!

Oh, so why did you single out Westminster and Ashburnham as 'taxing residents to death' yet make no mention of any of the other congested and decaying cities surrounding them doing the same thing? I guess there's no reason for people to be jealous unless they place any value on things like lower crime, more open space, higher quality of life, better schools...you know, little things like that. But hey, for those that love dilapidated old mill buildings and 24-7 access to hard drugs, hookers and dollar stores, you've got G-vegas and the dirty 'Burg. As a bonus, you're tax rates are basically the same as mine, so there's a win-win for ya.

gad,

The tax rate isn't the only variable that determines the cost to the homeowner. When Westminster takes a simple 3 bedroom house and determines the market value of the house to 3 times what it is in any of the neighboring towns, that is an unfair inflation of taxes.

Add to that with a yearly attempt at over riding prop 2 1/2 to fund your average schools, and you get the picture.

These are your results for better schools??

http://www.boston.com/news/special/education/...

seems like these schools should be doing much better than they are considering they constantly scream for more money, have a lot fewer "non-english" speaking students as a percentage of the student population, and a superior living style as you have put it!

and you really shouldn't pick on our hookers...they need love too!
