Did I miss the letter from the elected officials of Livonia looking for direction on the medical marijuana law? No, it appears they decided that 63% of the citizens that voted for it don't count and they will make their own decision. Guess what, so will the 63% that vote and chances are that they will vote to remove the ones who impede the law supported by so many. Have none of these people had a relative/loved one/friend that suffered from a terminal disease or constant chronic pain? I lost a Mother-in0Law to cervical cancer at 59 and a dear Brother-in-Law to bone cancer at 60. Have they not had to take that person to chemo and radiation. And just when they are down to their last bit of strength from the treatment (which destroy healthy cells along with the cancerous ones) they stop treatment and tell them to rest and gain strength, which means to eat and guess what they can"t do? EAT! The drug companies, who are the biggest enemy against the legalization of medical marijuana, have produced Marinol what really only helps 11% of patients. It is supposed to increase appetite.
Tax and regulate the medicine, at the dispensaries. If the dispensaries paid the growers on a 1099 and each sale at the facility was taxed. The cities will still make a ton off the illegal activity because it will continue to go on. But let's not deny the rights of so many that suffer from so many different maladies. And look at the side effects of the pills of today. After they tell you what it cures, then they tell you 15 or 20 side effects and one may usually be death then look at the side of effects of medical marijuana, I guess it could be sleep.
According to the latest studies marijuana is 22nd on the list for most dangerous drugs, right behind Aspirin! Alcohol is number one. Alcohol destroys brain cells, families and people in general. You always read about the drunk driver that slammed into someone and had a .18 or more. How many times have you read about an under the influence of marijuana driver doing the same thing? If you did and you continue to read you will more than likely find alcohol was also present.
Remember that the Government is the only entity to have a patent on the right to grow and sell marijuana. Be sure to free hemp. It does not have THC in it and can do so many things. Our farmers could have something to grow. Do some research and you will find that we should bring this back, yes back. The U.S. grew it for many, many years and can be used soooo many ways.
Write Bill Schutte (Attorney General of Michigan, Top Cop) to tell him to enforce the new medical marijuana law, not the old one because 63% of the voters will know who he is and may do something about him BEFORE his term is up.
