What these people do is hire so-called professionals; coaches, and that's what screws up these debates because we never get to hear how the candidate feels--only what their coach tells them to say.
I'm not sure if Rand has libertarian views or not. His father runs as a republican, but he's definitely a libertarian in principle. At any rate, if Rand runs, it'll all come out in the wash. The other candidates will make sure it does.

Ron had a "blame America" mentality, and he basically felt that our enemies were justified in attacking us. It's his right to believe that, but I don't want someone like him in charge of the country again. Eight years of Obama will have been enough.

Which would make you a neoconservative, a variant that developed in the 1980s. Non-intervention was an earlier conservative ideal, the one I grew up with.

"Rathbun (2008) compares three separate themes in conservative policies since the 1980s: conservatism, neoconservatism, and isolationism. These approaches are similar in that they all invoked the mantle of "realism" and pursued foreign policy goals designed to promote national interests. Conservatives, however, were the only group that was "realist" in the academic sense in that they defined the national interest narrowly, strove for balances of power internationally, viewed international relations as amoral, and especially valued sovereignty. By contrast, neoconservatives based their foreign policy on nationalism, and isolationists sought to minimize any involvement in foreign affairs and raise new barriers to immigration. Former Republican Congressman Ron Paul favored a return to the non-interventionist policies of Thomas Jefferson and frequently opposed military intervention in countries like Iran and Iraq."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_isolati...

The Republicans tried to prevent our entry into World War II.(Maybe you already know this, but I want you to note how much the Republican party has changed, just in my lifetime.)

"Modern Republican isolationism began with the 1919 battle over joining the League of Nations, when Senate Republicans, led by so-called Irreconcilables like William Borah of Idaho, killed the deal -- even though without American guidance, European affairs were doomed to explode again. A pattern emerged, as liberal Democrats, along with Northeastern Republicans, wanted America to actively manage world affairs, while the Republicans' powerful Midwestern and Western factions viewed cooperative international ventures as dangerously entangling alliances.

The isolationists had complex motives: Congressional vigilance against presidential encroachments on their constitutional powers; a small-town obsession with balanced budgets; and conspiratorial suspicions of foreigners, financiers and -- in the case of anti-Semites like Charles A. Lindbergh -- Jews. Naturally, isolationism thrived among Congressional Republicans when a Democrat held the White House -- as it does again today -- but it continued through the Coolidge and Hoover years, too.

Later, Republicans resisted Franklin D. Roosevelt's efforts to gird the nation for war, passing legislation that limited rearmament and support for European allies. Only the bombing of Pearl Harbor banished the isolationists to the margins.

Some thought World War II, which proved the need for American leadership, would kill off isolationism. Yet with Harry S. Truman as president and the Republicans running Congress after 1946, members of the party's Midwestern faction -- led by Sen. Robert A. Taft of Ohio -- vainly fought efforts to promote collective security, including NATO and the Marshall Plan."

Well, folks, it's been a lot of fun, but I've been presented with an opportunity to pursue something that I've wanted to do for a long time. I've given it a lot of thought, and decided today to go for it. Wish me luck.

I may not be on here again until mid-October, so everybody have a great spring & summer.

1) Republicans fear that the government has too much control over corporations. Democrats fear that corporations have too much control over our government.
(2) Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us. Republicans believe it benefits all of us to help the wealthiest and most powerful among us.

Let me explain this to you again:
The average temperature here in Cleveland is 45 degrees. That means if we had high temperatures of 25 degrees the last seven days, and temperature of 65 degrees in the next seven days, we hit our normal high for the combination of the two weeks.
As we all know, we've been way below average most of this winter. That's because we've had way more days below average than above.
Canadian cold fronts are nothing new, and no global scientist invented it either. They have been happening long before man got here and will continue long after the last man is off of this planet. The same holds true with southern warm fronts.
That's nice of you to repeat oil lobby propaganda but you might want to save your sales pitch for the overwhelming majority of the scientific community that disagrees with the Koch Brothers...oops, I mean you.

Not every president can gleefully send our troops off to die in a bogus war like your "Mission Accomplished" buddy did. Funny how many Americans despise Bush to this day and we didn't even have corporations spending millions of dollars to tell us what to think. Of course, we didn't just hate Bush because of the color of his skin either. Hey, how's that "outrage" over the affordable care act doing you? We all can see that it's obviously the end of the civilized world, just like your camp predicted. Aaaah ha ha ha ha ha! Look out! It's the Obamacare death panels! Invaded a country, " the wrong country", chasing 911 bandino's, at a cost of billions, 3000 lives, and 20,000 total disabilities! For what? With a result of what? With a fix of what? Cheney and Haliburtion was the cash cow winners and them alone! Maybe Obama should drop the big one on Putin! Would his ratings increase? Would you vote for him then? I didn't think so! At least a little extreme from my perspective. Once again, "Obama" would never have gotten Bin Laden if not for the programs that Bush established. Haliburton was & is the ONLY company in the free world that could fulfill the tasks that were needed.
That said, I do NOT believe that we belonged in Iraq, at least not with significant support of others. Saddam was a disgusting warring despot & should have been disposed of but that was not for the U.S. to lead even tho he had WMD's that he used in Iran, Kuwait & against his own Kurdish citizens. Firing scuds at Israel & killing domestic political prisoners & using children for shields.
Afganhastan may be a worse scenerio. It has never been successfully conquered throughout history. Al Quida is still there & pressing for any & every advantage to subject everyone that is in their way. The best way to do that would be to support the governments of the countries that they operate from. NOT to do the jobs of those governments.

Hey Pops. You are so right about Bush leading Osama Bin Laden right to Obama by this video. I mean except for the fact that this is a video of Bush stating that finding the number one terrorist in the whole world wasn't really that important. Now remind me again why at least 4000 American soldiers died in Bush's war. Halliburton? Oil? Jesus?
