A drunk-driving illegal alien who was twice deported before he mowed down and killed a police officer was sentenced to 55 years in prison.

Johoan Rodriguez, a 27-year-old veteran border jumper from Mexico, killed Houston police officer Kevin Will on May 29, 2011 as the officer, a husband and father, was investigating a another crash. A drunken Rodriguez plowed into him in the wee hours of the morning.

Significantly, according to news accounts, if Rodriguez hadn’t killed Will he may well have killed someone else. He was a member of the Salvadoran drug and murder gang MS-13, prosecutors said.

On Monday, the Houston Chronicle and other news organizations reported, Rodriguez pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter. He will spend about 22 years in prison before parole is considered, the newspaper reported.

The Crash

It’s hard to know which is more unfathomable: the crash itself or that Rodriguez was yet another illegal alien the government permitted to repeatedly enter the country without consequence.

That said, the facts show that Rodriguez was a habitual doper and drunkard. Reported KHOU Television,“Rodriguez had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when he raced through a police roadblock on the North Loop near Yale at an estimated 90 miles an hour on May 29, 2011.” Will was with another HPD member “investigating a motorcycle crash and had closed the highway,” the station noted.

Police dashcam video played for the jury during the one-week trial, and again during closing arguments, shows Rodriguez’s Volkswagen hitting Kevin Will — severing both legs and killing him instantly.

When police collared Rodriguez, he had 0.33 grams of cocaine in his pocket, an unsurprising cache for a member of the murderous MS-13.

Possibly too extreme, we do have laws against cruel and unusual punishments

But, we seem to ignore certain laws, right?

And in Michigan,

An illegal immigrant living in Westlake was arrested early Tuesday morning after attempting to flee from police trying to make a traffic stop for a suspected DUI.

Efrain Santos, 22, was arrested at the corner of Bassett and Detroit Roads around 2:35 a.m. Tuesday after trying to run away and then putting up a fight with officers.

Neighbors nearby were awakened by the scene. One neighbor said that, with all the police lights, "My bedroom looked like a disco."

Santos was found to have a blood-alcohol level of .260, more than three times the legal limit. He is being charged with DUI, resisiting arrest, open container, hit-skip/leaving the scene, no lights, no driver's license, and improper right turn.

Santos is also being held on outstanding charges of DUI, open container, no lights, no driver's license and failure to control from a June 8 incident.

Westlake Police discovered that Santos is in the United States illegally. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified, said Westlake Police Captain Guy Turner on Wednesday

North Riverside police charged Hodgkins resident David V. Garcia, 33, with felony aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting police after he allegedly struggled with an officer trying to remove him from the Sweet Spot, 2531 Desplaines Ave. on June 24 at 2:18 a.m.

The officer reported seeing Garcia leaning across a car in the parking lot of the bar and asked him if he was OK. When the officer asked if he was involved in an earlier domestic trouble incident, Garcia reportedly walked to the door of the bar, opened it and screamed obscenities at the officer.

When the officer told Garcia to come outside so he could be ticketed for public intoxication and violating the villagefs noise ordinance, Garcia reportedly refused and then pushed the officer away and then struggled with the officer as he attempted to handcuff Garcia.

Garcia is being held at Cook County Jail on $10,000 bond.@

not deporting illegal aliens after a dui shows full support of killing of citizens by them.

it would take one of them doing this to some big shots kids or whole family before it is thought to be a deport-able offence

I agree that people should be punished for mis or malbehavior but the degree of punishment should be equally applied across the population regardless of social, economica, legal or marital status! Is that clear? I want to see those college students stopped for DUI also in prison, record tarnished, and fine for thousands of dollars automatically with no sympathy from a judge!!!!

Sit in on an Illinois DUI court room. The punishments are meted out to everyone with a valid drivers license.

The process takes about one year. You will need about $10,000.00 USD for a first offense. Do not go in without a special DUI attorney. Its a regular industry in Illinois

Illinois, one of the few states providing an official estimate of average DUI costs. The typical Illinois DUI conviction costs the drunk driver $14,660. That average takes into account lost work time and attorney fees. Without those two items-if you missed no work time and were not represented by a DUI lawyer-you could expect to pay approximately $8,660 in direct DUI-related expenses.

High risk insurance, required in Illinois for three years after reinstatement of your driver's license, means an average increase of $1,500/year in automobile insurance costs. The fine for a DUI conviction varies from state to state: in Illinois, it may be up to $2,500. Additionally, an Illinois driver convicted of DUI can expect $500 in court costs, a contribution to the trauma center fund, and towing and storage fees.

Then there are fees for driver's license reinstatement and substance abuse counseling/education.

Of course, that total doesn't take into account costs for monitoring equipment such as an ignition interlock device or the emerging continuous alcohol monitoring system. In addition, some states require fees not included in the Illinois breakdown. For instance, Washington state requires those convicted of a DUI-or sentenced on a lesser related offense after being charged with DUI-to pay $125 to the state toxicology lab, and to make a $500 contribution to the state's victim's fund.

Not everyone is drunk at .26, some can hold their liquor better than others. I can drink a 12 pack and get nothing but a good buzz. The .08 should be just a guideline and not written in stone.

I would be laughing so hard if you were telling me that as I was putting the irons on you that I would have to catch my breath before I could call ICE to get an illegal alien holder on you at the jail where your cellmates would laugh too at your story as they took turns on you.
Your truck would be impounded and sold at auction and all your posessions where you live would also be sold at auction when your landlord does not get the rent because you are still in jail of back in Mexihole.
Any paperwork found on you, in your truck, or your residence that shows where you work will lead to an ICE and IRS investigation of your employer who will face consequences of their own.

Always wondering when you will be next. You can put out the line about being part of the 2 year deferred amnesty but your day will come when your criminal acts will be at an end and you will cry like a little girl because you thought is would never happen to you.
