Sounds like the residents of Quogue are too "stuck up" to see reality.
These 2 people are trying to do something good.
The conceited snobs around them think because they have money, they should get whatever they want, whenever they want, whereever(sp?).
The wealthy are not the only residents f LI.
_________
The police/DA should investigate this as a hate crime by the rich against the poor....Or will they "turn the other cheek" because the money has blinded them?

Quogue is not big deal of a town! Most people out east that have money, have money and not much else! I have seen the rich women go into the ladies room, do ther business and walk out without washing their hands! Real class! Money only gives you money, nothing else. You can still be a big sleaze ball! Look and Brinkleys ex, Mr Cook!

While in college, we rented a summer home in Quogue. Although it's a nice area with it's close proximity to the "East End", it's no big deal. When you throw the "summer renters" into the mix, it's less than desirable. Why would you fight this project? The illegals are living in your woods now, let them find shelter.

That these unscrupulous people will rent the homes to the illegal aliens who work in some of these communities and fill these homes with unrelated renters. They turn these homes into illegal boarding houses and destroy the surrounding community. There has to be oversight because you cannot have it both ways. Either you maintain a nice community or you don't. Renters of this type care nothing for the towns and eventually the town turns into something like Huntington Station.

Frankly, I don't give a rat's a$$ about ANY ILLEGAL ALIEN here in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! If they need shelter, let 'em go home. They've already told us time-&-time again that this is NOT their home; so be it -- get out!

Don't worry residents of Qougue, the first Cat 3 hurricane that goes through the South Fork will rip the town about. Your town will be filled with FEMA trailers after that for temp houses, won't that be a great place to live. You peaple have alot more to worry about then two little houses.

Let's see...$400,000 homes with threats. You all sound like a bunch of losers fighting about nothing. Glad I moved off the Island ! By the way,$400,000 here in the South will get you a new brick 4500 sq. ft./ 4 bedroom / 3 bath home with 3 car garage & full finished basement. And wonderful neighbors with no threats. See, the smart ones leave. Dummies stay ! HA!

Seems to me that these two have bit off more than they could chew! They want W/F housing in an area that don' t want or need it! These do gooders are trying to ram their ideas up the people's a s s e s ! Their plan will fall apart if the old buildings were not there! They couldn't sub devide and ruin the neighborhood! The statement that she grew up there and now she wants to put a slum back in "her" neighborhood is irrelivant, These are greedy people who don't care what happens as long as they get theirs! As for the threats, I would check out their printers and computers ! I would investigate their finances and see if , since the real estate turn down that they are stuck with a white elephant!

wow, i didn't realize a 400k house wa a "slum" JJJR

did anyone actually read the article where she said that she suggested the town could limit the prospective buyers to someone who works FOR THE TOWN? we are not talking 40 illegal landsapers here.

we are talking about someone who is not able to do something with their own property due to being threatened with violence. and it's probably someone SHE KNOWS! that is SCARY. makes me really LOVE to live on LI

Here we go again with the illegal aliens. They are not the problem, we are. Do we chase them away when they come to mow our lawns, or replace our roofs, or pave our driveways, etc.? Do you see any American kids doing this work? How many of your kids get off their soft behinds to do anything productive? How many high school dropouts want to break a sweat doing hard work? The hardest part of any job they get is to ask "You want fries with that?" Supply and demand folks. If we create the demand for the jobs no one else will do, then the supply will be illegals.

I'm usually the last one to go for whacky conspiracy theories, but something about this story doesn't smell right.

An untraceable note containing information the ordinary resident of the town would not know? And yet no formal complaint is filed?

There's definitely more to this story than we're being told, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to discover that this "anonymous" threatening note was actually written by the owners themselves to drum up publicity for their cause.

And since when does 400K qualify as "affordable" housing??? Not to mention the taxes that go on top of that.

Finally, forget the nonsense about illegal aliens. Last time I checked, the average landscaper or fry cook (legal or not) couldn't touch a 400k home with 10k in taxes. That's an absurd distraction.

I couldn't agree more. Fat lazy Americans are the problem. Not hard working immigrants. I don't care about their documentation.

Spoken like a true bigot. Only list the bad possibilities. It never occured to you that middle or low income people could be good hardworking people.

This isn't a supply and demand question. That is the equivalent of saying slavery was a supply and demand issue that was a good thing because it created more jobs for slaves. Why would a plantation owner pay a worker when he has a slave. This is reverse outsourcing instead of sending the jobs you bring the forced labor here. How would you like American kids to compete with forced labor, do it for free. I wonder how you would make out if your boss siad I have someone to do your job for half pay or less would you work for half. I think not. This would be a supplyand demand question if the field was even it is not.

Won't be a hate crime, the poor aren't a protected minority. If it said No affordable housing for blacks, hispanics, Jews, Muslims, gays then it would be a hate crime. I suspect it is a fictitious claim designed to make it politically incorrect" for the village to rule against them. They have invoked the gods of affordable housing and waived the flag of "we could have a village employee live here". Be careful what you wish for sweety, especially when the State Police get a warrant to search your hard drive and printers.

You are absolutley right about that! Outside of the Atlanta area,(where I live) for 400,000.00 you can practically get a mansion, and we live in a fairly affluent county in Georgia.
