Nothing like forcing the will of a few onto others. So now for those of us that get incredibly anxious before flying, I guess we'll have to have some drinks before boarding. Let's see - would a fellow passenger rather sit next to someone that smells like cigarette smoke, or is throwing up because of the alcohol. Hmmmmm........

Well...if you're throwing up because of drinking too much alcohol, you wouldn't be flying anyways. They don't allow intoxicated idividuals to board a plane and they wouldn't serve you enough on the plane to become intoxicated. How about you benefit the rest of us and just don't fly.

The will of a "few"?! There are many times more non-smokers than smokers, so why inflict the will of those "few" smokers on the rest of us who prefer not to breathe all your nasty toxic smoke?
BTW, there are great anti-anxiety medications out there--I'm sure doctors would prefer giving those to smokers instead!

Funny how the board has banned smoking but replaced it with lottery machines inside the airport.

If the airport was real serious about "no smoking", then the airport would quit selling the smokes in their stores for $5 a pack..........oh wait, the profit is too much to give up.

Hypocrites..........

So you can't smoke outside? I don't understand how that impacts anyone, except the smoker. The noxious fumes coming from the cars lined up at the drop-off area seem to be more harmful than that of a cigarette. What's next, no vehicles on Airport Authority grounds?

I'm not even a smoker and I think this is rediculous.

Local news is stating outside smoking still allowed, Indy Star says nowhere.
Which version is correct?

Look, Smoker, your smell or level of anxiety are not the issues. Second hand smoke is a known carcinogen, in the same classification as asbestos. Do you think anyone would care to walk through a cloud of asbestos as they enter the terminal? Oh yeah, if I notice you're drunk when we board the plane, be assured I will bring it to the attendants' attention, and then you may try to talk your way into continuing your trip.

Will of the few? Are you kidding? Go smoke in your own house, or in your own car. Keep it to yourself. The majority want no part of it. If you are anxious about flying...don't fly. Have a cigarette while driving to your destination.

Why doesn't the government just make smoking illegal? Could it be all the money, through taxes, they make off it? What a bunch of hypocrites. The old men making these laws sat in offices filled with ciggarette smoke in the 60's & 70's firing up their heaters.

Finally! A common sense decision. Smokers need to understand that the MAJORITY of people do not want to breathe their smoke. This is not a gestapo tactic, this is policing those that chose not to police themselves.

Why a ban on outside smoking? Give smoker's (they're human too) an outdoor area where they can smoke without affecting any of the smoke-phobics The smoke Nazi's have gone too far on this one. Live and let live, folks. What's next, a ban on food because we have so many fatties?

While I agree you shouldnt be able to smoke around non-smokers, I dont see the reason there cant be a smoking area away from the entrances. Put it out in the middle of a field, at least 50 yards away from the doors or established walking paths. That way no non-smokers would have to be exposed to SHS and smokers can get their fix.

I wish that this would not have happened. I mean honestly. What’s next no exhaust fume’s at the airport. Honestly they are worse than the smokers outside. We will now see a decrease in tourism in Indianapolis because in a year many people will be fined the second they walk out the doors at IND. That is one of the worst decisions that I have ever heard. NOW BOARDING, ALL CRANKY PASSANGERS ROWS 1-15.
