Drugs and Alcohol are a problem in our community, right here, right now. On any given weekend your son or daughter is either driving drunk or riding in a car with someone who has been drinking. If caught drinking, most kids get a slap on the wrist. The student athletes that get caught may sit out a game or two. There is no big consequence. It is only a matter of time, it could be your son your daughter in the same position as Nick. What would you do if your son or daughter had to spend time in jail? Naturally you would want to protect your child. We all think that we give our teens direction, but in reality, they are going in their own direction. Don't be nieve that it won't be your son or daughter next. We don't know what tomorrow will bring and how a poor choice can turn deadly. It is a tragedy to all of the families involved.

Yes, I remember Kristin quite fondly. The image in my mind of her is once when she was a little girl, with one of her left front teeth out. She delighted in showing us at the library her missing tooth a big gap-toothed grin!

We imagine that we ourselves would never make any of these mistakes: drinking, driving, playful antics in the car, not wearing seatbelts--but we do. "There but for grace go I..." My prayers are for Kristin & Travis and all those family and friends who remain behind; including Mr. Gaunt.

The remaining survivors need to grow up! I went to school with them and they failed to change their ways after this. I don't understand why it is so hard to obey the law!
Trust me i get it

he didn't get near enough time for what he did. His actions at ballstate clearly show that even after the accident he has no sense of remorse. He needs to be put away for a long long time. I dont want to be driving on the same streets as him and I sure as hell don't want to see anymore pictures of him living it up playing beer pong.

Sad that his family blames others for putting their son in jail. Sad that they didn't help him when they could, or even try. Sad that a Childrens Youth Minister sat up on the stand and recounted her daughters friendship with Nick, knowing full well what he would go home to at night, and NOT REACH OUT TO HIM. Sad that the family are so vindictive towards the very people who try to help him heal himself. Sad that they seem to point the finger at those who suffered the most. Christians, I think not.

After reading the story on this "incident" I believe that this stupid thug didn't get nearly enough time. 4 years is not nearly enough to pay for the deaths of the two teens. Nice to see the parents supervising him(sarcasm).

Nick is a good guy who made a bad decision, we all make bad choices everyday, his was just more unfortunate... He now is a hard worker and a productive member of society, so please keep him in your prayers as he continues with his future:) Nick you are loved:))

You all do know that at the time this happened he was only a child... He wasn't an adult! And not one of you can tell me you never drank before the age of 21! I feel terrible for everyone involved! Don't you think it is enough that for the rest of his life he has to live with killing two of his bestfriends!!! He's a good man! Who has overcome hard times ! Have a heart! And remember! All 4 were drinking ! Not just 1! It could have been him that died! RIP Travis and Kristin your never forgotten!
