Before anyone goes under the knife for any surgical procedure, they should be prepared for all outcomes. While many surgeries are successful with little to no complications, a poor surgical experience can disable a patient. Case in point: Lucille Iacovelli: http://www.losingface.net/ .

I have been helping Lucille tell her story through a book project that is now stalled because the doctor who disabled her sued in federal court to silence her Online criticism. On top of all this, Judge Sarah Evans Barker ( www.judgegod.com ) is someone very sympathetic to hospital interests in Indianapolis where Eppley practices. Her family has been entrenched in the health care industry for hundreds of years, and she is on the board of directors for the main health care company Eppley pays rent to and buys his malpractice insurance from. Lucille simply can't afford to appeal this judge, who is walking all over the First Amendment to enforce a bogus injunction against this victim of poor plastic surgery.

Lucille was also featured in the HBO Documentary Plastic Disasters. Her history as a victim is extensive. Dr. Eppley also has a history of at least 7 known malpractice cases he was involved in.

I would be interested in finding more people like Lucille to point to as examples. If you’ve had a bad experience, please comment here. If you’d like to get involved, visit the following sites and cut and paste the banner codes there to other forums like this:

I believe plastic surgery has gone too far in general. I feel the "plastic surgeons" are to blame for what has happened to society concerning their views on "needing" to have the constant facial surgeries. The surgeons advertise too much looking for their victims.(Yes, I think that word "victim" applies in many cases - not all of course). Some surgeons are genuinely good, caring and gifted people who want to help patients. Then there are the others who are only in it for the money to get richer at all costs. I believe "plastic surgeons" need to be REGULATED by a group of laymen, and other type of doctors who are NOT in a "buddy system". This regulation would be for necessary surgeries, for the most part. The surgeons would have to be accountable to a specific degree should they harm the patient. The would be REQUIRED to repair their damage at no cost to patient. I don't care if someone says it's vanity...that can apply to a lot of things and when someone feels bad about their looks, and the doctor tells the patient he can change all that for the better, HE is in control of her/his fate.**ryfter viewing everything on the net it's so obvious this Eppley guy destroyed Lucille's life. He killed her future and her happiness. It's criminal what he did and monsterous how he has handled this entire fiasco. The Judge Sarah Evans Barker and this "so called" pastic surgeon are a pair of sneakey, bullying, greedy individuals who seems to have too much power and have clearly used every opportunity to keep Lucille quiet.

Why shouldn't Lucille speak out about what happened? Eppley doesn't want her to because it shows people the kind of bad surgeon he is. It gives people FACTS they would not have been told in order to make a fair decision about work they were thinking of having done. I believe every surgery outcome should be posted honestly over the internet and every other source for the public to see. A good surgeon should be fine with the truth. I am sure they would want the facts about something if the shoe was on the other foot.

I hope Lucille gets the justice she should and something is done about Eppley and the Judge who clearly has HIS and HER own agenda in mind...anyone can see what's going on...

Eppley should have his license removed. He's clearly a sick individual. The Judge, Sarah Evans Barker (I laugh about her being a judge) should be removed form the case. This is a conflict of interest big time and will never be handled fairly.

arlene who posted "elective surgery. oh well." is Lucille's sister. She's been stalking Lucille on every messageboard for years trying to discredit her. From everything I've read that she's posted about Lucille, she clearly has some mental problems. I know Lucille and vouch for her courage and honesty. Everyone who's known Lucille for years is aware of her struggle and the brave way she lives her life. She's one of the kindest people you could ever meet.

Neither this "well informed" patient nor you are being realistic. Did she have trouble after her surgery? Yes. I can guarantee you that she signed a waiver telling her that any surgery can have negative results, from minor difficulties to death. Maybe you should READ things you sign.
I invite her to visit a burn ward sometime and see what REAL patients have to go through with plastic surgery--not to look a little younger, but to have a recognizable face. And things can go wrong with those too, but they are rarely interested in whining like this woman.
When all is said and done, this woman had some unnecessary vanity surgery and it didn't work out. Pretending it's all the surgeon's fault is ridiculous. Things happen in surgery regardless of how skilled the doctor is; there are NO guarantees.
Stop playing the victim here, that surgeons hunt for "victims". They advertise their services. People decide to utilize those services. There are no victims here; at best, you have people who regret a decision. Well, being an adult is about living with the decisions we make. Unless she can prove he was drunk or stoned at the time of the operation, she's carrying on a campaign that ultimately may open HER up to legal consequences.
What qualifications should a layman have in order to properly regulate medical professionals? Being an overemotional whiner like this woman? You aren't QUALIFIED to judge whether a case is a matter of malpractice.
Maybe if people stopped being stupid enough to think a scalpel will make them young again, there wouldn't be so many plastic surgeries to begin with. Vanity has its costs.
BTW--youl're very close to libeling that judge. Perhaps you can tell me what law she is flouting in her cases? Whether you like it or not, judges aren't supposed ot determine cases by how emotional someone is; they have to apply the LAW and the constitution.

I don't think a face-lift for vanity reasons is equal to a surgery that allows you to walk properly.

Far more than half of ALL surgeries are elective; it doesn't mean they aren't needed in some cases. All elective surgery really means is that it is not a life-threatening condition.

So you now her better than her own sister? Interesting. Doesn't her sister have a right to express HER opinion as well?

You aren't qualified to judge a surgeon's work and you aren't qualified to determine if there is mental illness in any particular person. I can just as easily point out Lucille's narcissistic nature as demonstrated by having a face-lift to begin with. Or perhaps yours in your obsession with a case you simply aren't capable of objectively judging.

Isn't this just becoming a lovely little Peyton Place? Well, maybe more of a Harper Valley.

Lucille has not seen her sister for years. Her sister does not have a right to express an opinion about Lucille's post surgical condition because she has NO KNOWLEDGE of it or anything about her FIRST HAND, for nearly a decade.

Arlene is a psychotic trouble maker who terrorizes her neighbors and stalks Lucille on the Internet.

Your comments on this topic reveal that you have not really READ all the material available online regarding Eppley's lawsuit or Lucille's exhaustive documentation of his damaging surgery.

And you are only gong on what lucille says about her sister. And unless they've revoked the 1st amendment, her sister has EVERY right to comment on this or any other topic.

Unless I see the surgeons' notes directly, I can't make a complete determination. Lucille's self-pity is hampering any credibility I might otherwise grant her. It's sad that her surgery didn't work out, but I have yet to see anything where the doctor was NEGLIGENT. Surgeries are not guaranteed and doctors are human. If a mistake was made, you have to prove it was due to gross negligence or disregard for protocol, not just that it didn't work the way they wanted it to. Every patient is different and reacts differently to surgery, drugs, etc.

Sometimes you have to accept at least a measure of responsibility for your own decisions.

Michael Devlin, a plastic surgeon who practiced as of 3/2010 in Little Rock Arkansas is a poor plastic surgeon. I would advise anyone to stay away from him. He left two scars on my cheeks that have been there for over three years. He attempted to do dermabrasion on my nasolabial folds. He obviously didn't know how to use the machine. He was formerly associated with The Little Rock Plastic Surgery Center, which usually does good work. Now he is practicing on his own. I complained to him many times, and he didn't do anything about it. I have had several plastic surgery proceedures done, and I am quite familiar with what should and shouldn't happen. He could have easily had me come back and remove the scars with laser surgery, but he chose not to. Feel free to contact me to ask questions about this. I have pictures. e: razzy189@aol.com

So stop whining and get the laser surgery.

Or how about people accept that they are not going to be 18 forever and grow some pride in their age-appropriate visage?

This is really hard to fathom and I write this with shock. I know she would have wanted this notice placed here on the string about her struggle with Barry Eppley .

Arlene Mulley,
Every comment you ever make is vindictive (to your sister and others). You never say anything intelligent. You only offer childish, ignorant comments for all the world to read and "laugh at you". You are not respected in any manner. Your rudeness shows a "lack of intelligence" and unhappiness you obviously feel. It's too bad you have such an inferiority complex. If you didn't you would try to say kind helpful things to people and have a positive impact. Instead, you prefer to make every situation hostile, and throw insults out as if you made such a good point. It's a joke...all on you. Noone is ever affected by you in the way you hope they are. You are the loser....you lost your only sister - you could have been there for her - instead you made cruel statements continuously and spread the ridiculous HA, HA,
HA's all over the place. You are not a lady - you are a disgusting expample of mankind...
