Kent sounds like a hotbed for hillbillies who are jealous of the college kids. I hope they get the death sentence. Absolutely unacceptable. I am so sick of evil people.

Ragin, Jr. does not have the appearance of a hillbilly

I am a Kent Alumni (2007)and a local business woman. We currently have 4 of our children attending the university and I am always cautioning them to stay out of downtown Kent at night. Although the article states that there hasn't been a murder in 10 years...there has been two since November 2009. The most recent is much like the other incident in November, someone from outside of our community here in Kent is in jail for another violent crime against a KSU student. How sad and senseless! Another young life taken at the hands of a thug!

this is the second time in the past few months that savages from Akron have come to Kent and beat to death a KSU student. I hope they throw the book at these animals.

Wow! whata shame,I sure feel for this fellas family. Can you emagine having a Son,Father or husbund makeing it back through 1 tour to get beat to death on our public steets.
The things that go on right outside our door is sickening!
And don't rag on us hillbilllys! We are way safer out here in the woods with things that craw, fly and creep around on the ground, than you city folks and thugs with guns. But we all should sat a prayer for this fellas family regardless where we live.

I agree, Ziggy. Let's just kill all the bad people and then the world will only be populated with good people.

We don't even need full details to make our determination of who to kill either. Clearly a small snippet in the newspaper gives us all the info we need.

We could take on Stalin's methods. He didn't even need a small paragraph about any person, he just looked at the name and could tell if they were undesirable.

Most people don't trust the government to handle their health care, their retirement, their tax dollars, or foreign policy, but clearly they will make no mistakes when it comes to executing people...except for the multitude of people that have been put on death row and later exonerated.

I hope the press does some investigating. Word on the street is former Gov. Jim Rhoades had something to do with this Kent State massacre.

all the violence in society just keeps getting worse. the real problem is there is no real reason for people to NOT act this way. if our criminal justice system was more like china or iran, people would FEAR breaking the law. and you SHOULD fear breaking the law. honest, hard working citizens should feel safe and secure in their own neighbourhoods. perhaps the time is comming when citizens need to arm themselves and take over law enforcement.

Black people can be hillbillies too. Uneducated, low class and poor is pretty much my definition of a hillbilly.
Are you saying John H Ragin Jr. is educated, classy and middle class or rich? Highly doubtful.
hillbillies have a more rural, "country" origon. they have very little in common with inner city thugs. neither are a desireable group of people however hillbillies are less likely to commit violent crimes against anyone except their wife.

I'm the angry one because I mocked some who advocates for "killing the evil people"?

It seems to me we need to tax alcohol to outrageous amounts of money to keep from getting drunk and killing each other.
Although I understand what you want to accomplish, I don't think taxing alcohol to extreme high levels is going to have the effect you want.

Taxing alcohol to high will just establish a black market for alcohol, which is the exact opposite of what you want to have happen.

I do agree that alcohol is a serious problem in this country. It is directly related to violent crime, sexual crime, and serious health problems. It is one of the most dangerous drugs in the world.

"This is the second Kent State University student to be fatally beaten in downtown Kent in the last three months."

Sounds like Kent is trying to challenge the west side of Columbus for worst place to live in Ohio.

It sounds like a hate crime to me. Why isn't anybody, cops, media, judge, anybody calling it a hate crime?

Why not send this tough guy to Afghanistan and put him out in front. As for the uniform, you might want to put a red shirt on him. No weapon. Let him use his fists and feet. May you rot in hell!

Sounds like Ragin was just trying to protect the woman.

White shouldn't have been out scrapping with a female in the first place.

Where's the story and the outraged commentary about the Boog hitman with "Gangster" and "Killah" tattooed on his arms that got life from a Columbus judge instead of a death sentence?
Double Standard,anyone?
The wankers at The Dipspatch believe that if they put their heads in the sand,or up butt, the virus of Institutionalized Black Ghetto Criminality will just go away, by magic.
Do they have their servile lips permanently fastened to Sick Joke Coleman's butt?
Who really benefits by this egregious willful denial of reality?
It's enough to make you puke.
Yeah. Benny Marrison, Mike Curtain and gang are ready to bury this one. Haven't heard much about the poor pizza driver that was shot in the face over the weekend.
