from The Columbus Dispatch:

"Politicians haven’t caught up with changing demographics, said Annie Laurie Gaylor of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, based in Madison, Wis., and the linking of piety to politics or patriotism makes nonbelievers feel that they’re 'not part of America.'

"'Atheists and agnostics — there’s no prayer that’s ever going to include us,' she said."

Prayer hasn't excluded atheists and agnostics as they both have already excluded themselves from prayer.

Annie Laurie might consider that the government's banning of prayers may make believers feel they're 'not part of America.' It is easy to use her argument against her as it is easy for her to use her arguments against those who believe.

However, it would seem best to follow the example of our Founding Fathers. If any wanted a prayer, they had it. If they didn't want a prayer, they did not have one. Believer, Deist, Jew and atheist co-existed with this system under the guise of "Oh, no! You guessed it!" -- freedom of religion.

Incidentally, "freedom from religion" is not listed in the Bill of Rights. What is listed is "freedom to worship..." But the constitution just doesn't mean much to many -- not even the Supreme Court (which I believe is currently made up for all Jews and Catholics -- not a conservative, "right wing" Christian among them!). That should certainly make Annie Laurie happy!
