NHL and MLS are perfect for Columbus. Nice, clean sports featuring nice clean players. Baseball players are mostly hillbillies, and Basketball players are thugs. NFL would never make it here with the Buckeyes and so many other teams surrounding us.

Are you kidding? Compared to it's peers (i.e. other American metro areas), it's about an 8.
Not on the fun or activity factor. Yes, when it comes to raising a family.

I'm talking about the overall niceness of the area. Amenities, the way it looks, cleanliness, lack of ghetto. I can't think of too many other large cities that have better curb appeal than Columbus.

No way. Vanderbilt area is okay and everything from Brentwood to Franklin is good. Most everything else I saw there is a step below here.

That's the same as saying UA/Campus is OK and everything from Hilliard to Gahanna on 270 is good. I know Nashville...Brentwood is Muirfield/New Albany while Franklin is Dublin/Hilliard.

550K in the metro area

530K in the county

That's a big city

40% growth rate in the last decade, that's a functioning society.

The only other large city that is right-wing, is CO Springs, I don't know much about the area.

I've been there once or twice. I wasn't impressed. It had some good points, but I thought it was grungier than Columbus. To me Nashville was more on par with Indy. Nashville may be more popular and may have more things to do, but Columbus is a tad nicer than both.

OK--here's a little something that the media never investigated either. John Maloney Health Center. Built under Mayor Lashutka. City-owned. Prices allegedly kept low by using donated goods and cutting deals with unions on labor costs. The Contractor was George Voinovich's brother.

Construction was so poor that the building was condemned and had to be torn down a few years back. Think maybe there was some skimming going on? Or just basic incompetence?

Might want to look into the curb-cuts under Lashutka as well.

I really feel Columbus lost it's identity long ago. It is now just another Corporate Town.
What corporation?

Used to be the Wolfs and Lazarus. Not so much anymore. Les would like to lay claim, but I don't think he's there either.

Of course what will fix the cities of Ohio, is letting those who commute but pay municipal income tax, vote.
All the big cities would have Republican mayors.
Well, some of those bedroom communities could merge with the city. But I don't see that happening.

And in fact, this has been assisted by the development of a number of "neighborhoods", such as the Short North, German village, Brewery District. Near East side has been coming slowly, but surely.

We have an opportunity to do something about the school mess, and I hope that we do. Coleman seems to recognize that this is a needed stop to bring people into the city as residents.

I thought the Maloney health center had problems with the stability of the ground underneath.

The curb-cuts are the money making scheme of some Jewish lawyer in Miami. He had a cottage industry of suing cities based on ADA violations and made hundreds of millions of dollars in class action settlements.

The point of the previous list was to show that I think what we have here stacks up pretty well with the rest of the country. We should be very proud of this area and what it has become.

Daily Horoscope for June 20

Leo

It's almost impossible to pin down a certain person today because they're being so elusive and flaky. They may not even be around, or they might not answer their phone, so you can't make contact with them at all. And if they are there in body they may not be so in spirit, because their mind is obviously on other things, so you probably won't get a straight answer. Better try again tomorrow!
