Since the city is buying this with our money, does that mean we get a piece of the income it generates.

Sure and profit sharing from the community center, swing pool, the new internet thing they want to do,very soon from all the real estate that city has gotten into property taxes should be reduced to 0. Wait is that a new levy they are talking about?

What a disgrace. This building showed the children how others have lived in other parts of the world. The world gets smaller and Westerville gets smaller with the elimination of the building.

Total disgrace and bull. City doesn't maintain their own property and chooses to tear it down. Guess that was the plan all along. Shame on Uptown Review Board members. And the stucco house across the street is a ugly mess inside, that's why it isn't selling.

The whole uptown area needs a update. Those blue tarps are ugly.

Blue tarps are for your roof for a short time not for a awning.

"We do want to proceed with that as soon as possible because there are some neighborhood houses that have been on the market and the condition of the property isn't helping with that," Bitar said. "The site would be more appealing for a developer if it were cleaned up."

Maybe the high cost of property taxes in Taxerville isn't helping the houses to sell....

just saying

Agree Mike. Taxes in
Westerville are a huge factor when trying to sell a house. Who wants to buy a house when you are taxed above the norm and have to vote for more taxes almost every year. School situation for more taxes is serious. Board bought a 3 million dollar office building last year, now needs more money put into the pot. When will it end?

They can spend millions on fixing up the swimming pool (that's only open 3 months a year), but they can't fix a historical part of Westerville? I have lived here since 1958 and will be sorry to see it go. So raise our taxes more to help you tear it down

Thank God they are finally going to tear down this eyesore. I've seen rats in there the size of Somolians.

I love that you call it Taxerville Mike! What really gets me, is that we live in Columbus, pay Westerville taxes, the kids go to Westerville schools, but can't get the resident price at the recreation center. How does that work?
