Does NBC hate Christians?

That’s what I was wondering over the weekend as I watched “Saturday Night Live” blaspheme Jesus Christ in a violent and bloody Quentin Tarantino parody – just three days after Ash Wednesday.

The fake movie trailer for “Djesus Uncrossed” featured the Savior brandishing guns and blowing away Romans in classic Tarantino-style. Blood and gore and profanity spewed across flat screens from coast to coast; at one point Jesus sliced a man’s head in half.

“Critics are calling it a less violent ‘Passion of the Christ,’” the announcer declared.“I never knew how much Jesus used the N-word.”

Offending Christians is apparently what passes for entertainment these days.

A few days before the SNL episode, NBC Sports blogger Rick Chandler wrote a scathing smear against a prominent Christian church in Dallas.

The First Baptist Church in Dallas had invited Tim Tebow to speak at an upcoming service. Chandler urged the outspoken Christian football player to reconsider.

“Tim Tebow to speak at virulently anti-gay, anti-Semitic Dallas mega-church,” read the headline on Chandler’s hit piece.

Sing Oldham, a spokesman for the Southern Baptist Convention, told me he’s not surprised by NBC’s blistering assault on American Christians.

“It’s open season on those who profess personal faith in Jesus Christ and pattern their lives by biblical morality,” he said.“Evangelical Christians are treated with contempt and targeted for ridicule.”

And at the Peacock Network, the contempt and ridicule are on steroids.

NBC removed the words “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance during a produced video that aired during the U.S. Open.

NBC medical editor Nancy Snyderman infamously denounced the religious part of Christmas during an episode of Today.

“I don’t like the religion part,” said Snyderman.“I think religion is what mucks the whole thing up.”

The “religion” she was referring to is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

The network has also produced religion-bashing shows like “The New Normal” and “The Book of Daniel.” That particular show as so offensive it led American Family Radio Chairman Donald Wildmon to declare,“We are tired of NBC’s anti-Christian bigotry.”

I wish I could tell you that this sort of anti-Christian bigotry is an anomaly. Sadly, it is not.

We’ve seen the networks and national news publications denigrate the Christian faith with great flair -- from the “Good Christian B****es” of ABC to Newsweek’s Christmas essay about the “The Myths of Jesus.”

I find it interesting that the networks always mock and ridicule Christianity – but they give other religions a pass.

Why aren’t the writers at SNL churning out weekly skits about Islam – or the Prophet Mohammed? Where’s the mock movie trailer for “Jihad Undetonated?” Where’s the television show called “Good Muslim B****es?” Or the magazine essay about “The Myths of Mohammed?”

I suspect we all know the answer to why.

I’ve often wondered why the people at 30 Rock hold Christians in such contempt. Maybe they choose to attack Christians because we are easy targets.

Southern Baptist spokesman Oldham said it should come as no surprise that networks like NBC target Christians for ridicule.

“Jesus said,‘the world will hate you because of my name,’” he said, referring to a passage in the New Testament.

As best as I can tell, the folks over at NBC are either ideological bullies or religious bigots.

Either one is enough for me to change the channel.

Aw, looks like tough-talking George is really an insecure wimp.
The quintessential Topix bully can't stand to have people make fun of his religion.
Making fun of something is hardly declaring war on it.
SNL has made fun of all three of the major religions, I have seen skits to that effect.
Apparently he doesn't live his lord and master's strictures to turn the other cheek, or to expect to be persecuted.
The same man who just posted a thread saying hardly anyone watches NBC is upset that someone may actually have watched them.
The same man who demands his First Amendment rights apparently doesn't want those extended to those who disagree with him.
He has shown he thinks there should be negative consequences for those he thinks are spouting unacceptable ideas. Something I have posted many times and everyone always disagrees with me, to wit, you may have the right to say whatever you want, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to it. I guess you finally agree with me on that now, hmmm?

And before you ask, George, the wife is doing just fine, all things considered.

Liberals are the ultimate hypocrites in this.

They would not dare to offend Muslims because they fear they would be killed in response such as the 19 people killed in the Scandinavian Cartoon Controversy or the murderous Major Hassan who the cowardly Obama will not prosecute.

Liberals know that Christians generally exercise mercy, so they have no problem bashing them with Satanic glee.

Then these Progs have the absolute gall to refer to Christians as the "American Taliban."

Clueless. Absolutely clueless.

When they have a show ridiculing allah, I will not call them out for their double standard.

Frankly, I have not watched the show for a long time as it ceased to be humorous years ago......

So you call me out denying SNL has run skits making fun of Muslims then admit you haven't watched the show in a long time, whereas I have watched it from time to time through the years and have seen said skits.

Perhaps Christians should just distort the bible to mean we should kill non believers in the name of god and any of those who make fun of our religion be condemned like the heretics they are. Oh wait there is already a religion that does such a thing and even the creators of southpark didn't have the stones to mock it for fear of being rubbed out.

You are quite right. If Christianity was as militant and non forgiving in sects as some Islamists are then SNL wouldn't tread in those waters. Unfortunately they know the media won't be outraged and that Christians won't bomb them, shoot them, or cut their head off over webcam.

On this week's episode of "Criminal Minds" the gay murderer was the hero and the Christians who tried to treat him were the villains and arrested and taken to jail. The problem is the liberals control both the universities and television that they use to demonize Christianity and exalt Islam. Liberals are hypocrites, fools and cowards.

That's a great point Oliver. The liberals on Saturday Night Live and South Park don't have the courage to mock Islam because they know there will be consequences. Muslims in Stockholm killed Theo Van Gogh over a movie and Muslims have killed over cartoons. Liberals would not dare to mock Muhammad. Liberals make me sick.

In fact, there are Christians who offer up such distortions.

I forget the preacher who was recommending that we round up all gays and put them in barbed wire enclosure in the desert until they all died.

And there have certainly been upstanding Christians on the side of nuking one group or another at various times.

What I find interesting here, however, is that I have never heard a peep out of George when SL, WW or our friend from Mississippi (whose name escapes me at the moment) are ridiculing those Christians who don't follow the kind of anti-gay, anti-Semitic kind of thought that this particular Mega-church has been accused of, or who demonstrate various other hypocrasies.

Seems a bit on the selective side, there George.

Hmmm...if any of us on the right included "I forget the preacher," or "whose name escapes me at the moment," you and Che would be screaming that it was "made up" or "pulled out of your ass." That happened to WW yesterday and she and I both immediately posted a link (Ann Arbor 19%), which you and Che automatically sneered at because you were pissed that she was telling the truth. But you expect to get away with "I forget" and the like?
What a hypocrite. As always.
