2013 Opening Ceremony make the history book. Little League is about the KIDS not the coaches. 2013 was all about a coach (Chad)! Opening day kids are excited to play their first game. This year several kids from 2 teams went home upset, not understanding why they didn't get to play! WHY? Because a coach couldn't stay for the game? It's open day a game has NEVER been cancelled due to a coach not being able to stay! Their is a assist coach on each team. A assist coach helps out a coach and is there to move up to the coaching position when the coach is unavailable. The assist was there to replace the coach and others who would have stepped up to help out. Chad decided not to play because he had to leave. IT'S ABOUT THE KIDS NOT THE COACH! The president should have called it by the RULES a forfeit or have a backbone to tell Chad the game goes on with or without him! Rules aren't followed and than all this trashing starts! KIDS were there willing, ready and able to play the game. Who gets hurt? THE KIDS! This just shows it IS NOT about the KIDS their feeling weren't even considered!

That is very well put!!!, If all this is the way it really happened then it is WRONG. Opening Ceremoney is a big thing in a kids Little League life. All the kids get to be on the field hear their names called, it's huge. But, not to play because a coach couldn't be their? That's wrong. When I coached I always had 2 coaches and we NEVER had a problem and not that it did ever happen but, if I couldn't have been there the kids would have been in great hands and PLAYED ball. Ofcourse the coach wants to be their , who wouldn't ? But, you don't put yourself in front of these kids. Let them play ball, and get over yourself!!!

Maybe they should of started the games earlier in the day, or used the second field?? Why didn't they?

wake up boonville!playing the same 4 teams over and over is lame. You are just asking for trouble when all the kids from the same town play each other over and over. There's another world outside of boonville and it's time for a change . Join with the northern league and expand the experience of little league, also we can avoid the rome all star fiasco and maybe go farther into tournament play.

Is there anything that can be done to help facilitate the change to the north central...there could be two boonville teams for the 10-12 age bracket--by getting rid of the 50-70 league, the older kids could then play for the school modified team, which inevitably would produce a more competitive team---plus the two boonville teams would be solid and very competitive with other area teams...playing the same team over and over again does get old...IMO it would be a win-win for all because of competitiveness, less headaches with scheduling for games and practices, the overall costs would go down, and would promote more community togetherness (pride) instead of ego battles between coaches

There is much talk on the forestport topix regarding the little league . Apparently kids have been threatened to be benched and /or actually benched because their parents did not work in the concession stand ?

That has been a rule since way back when. Each team has to have a parent in mom's kitchen for the games. If the mother/ parent doesn't show and doesn't switch with some other parent then the player doesn't play that game. Yes it seems cruel but, if a parent or someone for that player can't be in Mom's kitchen 1 night for acouple hrs that's to bad. All these coaches put alot of hrs in and don't get a dime for it. Games , meetings, phone calls to players, parents, umps, mom's kitchen not to mention all the practices, checking the equiptment so the kids have safe helmets catchers gear ect......So you know what Parents? Get your sorry butts of the couch or out of the bar and help out for acouple hrs. "FOR YOUR CHILD" If you can't make it for some reason switch with another parent or ask someone in your family to help out.....Your child is the one that suffers for not playing and has to asnswer to the kids how come he or she didn't play.....After all isn't it about THE KIDS?

That's always the way it's been. It's up to the PARENTS. Problem is, some parents want nothing to do with their kids. They're too busy getting high or drunk. What a shame for the kids!.. We wonder why our school scores are so low? Wonder why kids get in trouble, burn buildings??? Some of these parents need a good kick in their FAT butts!

I usually donot respond to any MORON'S remark but, since there are 2 of them yourself and Baller I will. I'm sure the both of you are acouple of the parents that just drop your kids off and leave! Kids unfortunatly read the kindof crap people like you post so, how about being a decent person if atall possible and stop putting the kids down? Give them some credit for actually playing!!!

Legion coaches are clueless. Not as easy down on the field as it is up in your lawn chairs is it? I've heard all of you bad mouth the high school coaches the last three years. Maybe you should pick up a video at Dicks.

pretty sure that you are supposed to drop your kids off at practice, unless you are the coach...sounds like a touchy past coach is having trouble with the heat, don't expect sympathy if you CHOOSE to coach.

I think what Past Coach is saying, is that most parents think the coaches are babysitters and are the 1st to complain and not ask to help out. I'm sure it wouldn't bother the coaches if the parents dropped there kids off and stayed to watch. I have before.
