How do you feel about the way the championships are set up? Say a team has only one loss all season. The championship is then won by a team that has only 3 wins .How is this possible , well there are 4 teams the first place team plays the last place team and the third place team plays the second place team. The lower teams win and they are the champions, even though.....

That is a new set up they started last year. To give teams who started out bad a chance to come back and win also. I think it is a fair setup. But if the first place team only lost one game all year than they should be able to beat the lowest ranked team and win the championship anyways right?

I agree with you 100%. Why not go back to the way it use to be? 2 halves. Winner of the 1st half plays the winner of the 2nd half , the best 2 out of 3. That way if a team "starts" out bad they still have the 2 nd half to win. If a team that only lost 1 game all season would most likely win both halves and win the championship. It was like that for years and years

The best 2 out of 3 is the best way to go. Some people piss and moan about pitching well, guess the coaches better work on the pitchers then! We tried to pass a rule afew yrs ago for the "MINOR LEAGUE" players to pitch. I'm not going to mention who but, I'm sure by the sounds of things you can guess, said Minor League coaches don't have enough time to teach the kids pitching, plus the games would go to long. You know what? that's the reason the Little League All Stars always got beat because the other teams, Rome , Oneida, I could go on and on had more than 1 or 2 pitchers and their Minor Leaguers pitched. Little League is a GREAT Experience for both players and coaches. If you let it be!!! I coached Little League for my boys team and coached with some great guys and we are still very good friends. That should be the best time for kids and their parent coaching, why does ANY Dad have to make it out like it is ALL them? The greatest feeling is when one of the kids you coached whenever they see you still calls you "COACH" That's when you know they had fun!!! To this day I still see and coach some of the kids that I coached in Little League, but let me tell you the MOST fun I had as a COACH was coaching Little League!!!

Grow up, gentlemen! The coaches need to put their petty differences and rivalries aside and remember that this is (at least should be) about the kids. They should be learning to play ball and having fun. The forfeit/cancelled game was ridiculous. There were kids that sat there all day for opening ceremonies and didn't get to play. I heard several boys ask kids from another team if they wanted to play against them after the game got cancelled because THEY JUST WANTED TO PLAY BALL. That was the fault of coaches and parents and everyone should be ashamed of themselves for forgetting what it's all about. As for last night, it was a great game and those kids should all be proud of themselves no matter who won or lost.

Yes maybe there should be a double elimination or have a champion and then have a separate tournament after the regular season ...Maybe the best idea would be to join North central little league , expand the opportunities for more diverse competition. we could play port leyden , lyons falls....

The forfeit/cancelled game was decided by Hal and the board not the parents or coaches. From what I was told both teams did very good the other night. The one team was down by 10 and came back to end the game at 13 to 10.To the person who said they got pisspounded, grow up and learn sportsmanship.

Yes the final score was 13 to 10..score was 13 to 0 going into the bottom of the fifth and then other team put some pitchers in that are normally not used to save for Friday!!

The competive balance would be more prevalent if joining the north central and eliminating 50-70

Re the forfeit..a makeup game had been scheduled for the following Thursday and the Kurt scheduled another postponed game for the same time just to mess with chad..

Either way.. Should be either best of 3 final or double slim tourney with regular season best record team being the reg season champ

Who are you idiots going to harass after Mr. Ernst leaves for a better place for his family. Ask any of the parents of Curts team if there kids improved during the year. Can Curt be an arrogant ass ? Absolutely!, But he makes those kids a lot better than they were when they started.. Isn't that what a coach is suppose to do? Good luck to you Curt and your family. I don't blame you one bit for getting out of this dump!

Don't you love it how people bash coaches who volunteer to volunteer their time? Kurt and Allison, don't let em get you down. They're prolly a bunch of fat ass trash who have nothing better to do. Thanks for all you have done for this town. More and more trash are moving in while the good families move out. Good luck to you!

He makes them better by yelling and swearing at them is that what a good coach does to 9-11 yr olds???? No he is a jerk. We know who the better coach is the one that is in the championship.

I very much appreciate all the coaches that volunteer their time and expertise for these kids. I'm sure that the kids on all the teams have learned and improved this year. I know mine has.
I do have an issue with the way children are treated. Baseball is a great sport, but it is a game. The kids deal with enough in school and life in general and should not have the pressure of winning, winning, winning and being yelled at all the time. Little League should be enjoyable for them, not more stress. They grow up too fast as it is. Let them be kids and have fun.
As far as I know, there were no other games that needed to be made up, so the comment about rescheduling a game at the same time as another rescheduled game doesn't add up. Please correct me if I'm wrong and I know someone will.
This is not about who is the better coach. Focus, people! It's about the kids!

It was and STILL should be about the kids. Like I said I still coach some of the kids that I coached in Little League. Some kids that are older still say"Hi Coach" when I see them out. That's a great feeling. I often said when asked how do you deal with between 11-13 kids at the same time? My answer was then and to this day is still....."The kids aren't the problem , the parents are" The one person is correct, kids hear enough crap at school and at home they DONOT need to hear it on the field. But I will say one thing, if I ever heard a Little League coach swear at one of my kids I would be on the field having alittle chat with that coach and then at the next board meeting making sure he/she didnot coach again. For the most part the coaches are good with the kids and they do put alot of time into it that people donot see.The best way to handle any problem is to get involved, don't sit back and bitch get involved. Never did I ever tell a parent he couldn't help, even if it was just chasing balls in practice. You can have only a certain number of coaches in the dugout at one time it use to 3? not sure now how many, but that is a rule. So parents get involved, don't just sit back, it is about the kids.

Well the Elks are the champions of 11-13 league. Yes ,the Kiwanis team only lost one game all year and the Elks never beat them even once.Sounds fair right? Some coaches surely are coaching for their own egos .Any coach swearing should be let go immediately. I hope the Ernst family keeps up the good work, they are good people .They have surely seen the worst of Boonville. Remember Ernst's -Goodness will prevail, it may take time.Have thick skin and ear plugs. We all know who the good people are....Don't be scared away. We really should join the North Central League ,then we can eliminate some of this crap. Back to real little league and more teams so all the inner Boonville squabble can stop, playing 4 teams over and over creates to much crap . Imagine having more teams and each playing each other twice ,once home ,once away.It will also ease the field use problems ,because we can play at other town's fields more. This won't mean losing the boonville pride .Babe Ruth does it, might as well start the kids early.
