As a resident of seaview drive, I have to say that all angles of this camera have not been approached. While I am truly devistated and sorry for the loss in the tragic accident that occurred here several years ago, I have some major concerns with this camera. This is a light I take several times a day, usually heading northbound and taking a left onto my road. The left turn lane is moderated by an arrow, while the 8' wide turning lane is totally unprotected by any median on either side. Meaning if you have a 6' wide vehicle (pretty standard) you have 1' between your fenders and 60mph traffic on either side....since the purchase of my home here in 2009, I've almost been sideswiped making this turn at least five times, and one of my cousins visiting in 2010 had their drivers side mirror taken off in a close call. Because of this reason, and the clear view for over 1/4 mile of the southbound lane, I run this red arrow frequently as it's nerve racking and dangerous to sit and wait for the green light, which can take up to three or four minutes to turn if no one approaches and triggers the light from the west beach road side or seaview side. So great, now I have to sit in front of my road with traffic whizzing by one foot away from me (very little room for error at 55-60mph) mid tourist season or I'll be fined $85. Granted, my method is only safe when there is no one at the intersection left or right, and there is no traffic coming southbound. I support the camera, it's a great idea, but the left hand turn arrow needs to be made a "yeild on green" for this to ensure the safety of most drivers. The road is perfectly open enough to make a judgement call on the left hand turn. In the off season in the middle of the night, the entire intersection minus north and southbound is blinking red (proceed after stop)....yet if I proceed after stop in broad daylight I'll now be fined. Thanks charlestown!!
