Who is running for Mayor, Board, & Clerk in Summit in April 2013?
FYI

Chicago, IL

#2 Dec 13, 2012
Joe Strzelczyk is running again with the same party.
Also running is Ted Bojanowski for mayor
Mayra Ortiz-Clerk
Jim Haan - Trustee
Marco Lopez - Trustee
Maria Escobelo - Trustee

The new party is younger and eager to make a change. My vote is with them seeing as the current Mayor is a joke!

As long as Mayor Joe controls the vote in the black community, there will be no effective opposition to him.

None.

When is the first debate? I'd like to know the opinions concerning basic topics; same sex marriage, capital punishment and so on. What are these candidates plans for the future? Other than pad their pockets and promote capitalism!!!

It is often funny how individuals want to get "involved" with politics when they are not involved in the community. I would respect anyone who wants to be a part of thier community, but the "younger" party is run by Ted. Ted had a Full time job with Summit years ago, which turned into a Part Time job the moment he was let go. He has an issue with the current administration because he was held accountable for his responsibilities and was never capable of creating success in the different positions he had in the Village, and now he wants to be Mayor? There are many good people in our town, but this new slate is not qualiifed to hold office.

What do you consider a qualified canidate? Have you looked at the the current officials? You think they are qualified, please. Do you even know the new slate? I think it is too early to speak and i would rather have a young educated slate be the voice of this community that is runned by old greedy people that dont care about residents.

I would ask you the same. What is a qualified candidate. The current Board has the experience of being on several local Boards for schools, parks, and different local community groups. They have the education and expereince to bring benefits to Summit. I know some of the slate associated with Ted, and I am not impressed. Furthermore I know they are in way over thier head. First, they follow Ted and that should be the only sign anyone needs to know they are not yet ready to be leaders in the community. Ted is always looking to get back at the current administration because of his short comings. Back in 1999, Ted was named Legislative Assistant to the Board, a volunteer position. By 2000 he was hired as a legal advisor to the Trustees? He claimed he could "not be forced to work for nothing". Ted is looking to continue to take money from Summit's residents without providing any services in return. And the new slate supports him. So, no, the new slate does not warrent any consideration.

After my garage burning to the ground and the way we were treated by Lt Long...How dare he run for Mayor! I am definitely down for Mayor Joe getting the boot. I am looking for someone to change SUMMIT! I am tired of these crooked cops, thugs/wannabe gang bangers poising this small town, and harassing my family. Being dark shouldn't automatically put us in a category of being thugs. Sorry this black family was raised differently (to be better than the next and not hate other races). My dad had hate long ago, that stemmed from being born in 1939, but he said hey have whatever kind of friend you want and be something want to do better for yourself etc. and to be treated the way we were treated two nights ago HA! Mister Long shall not get me vote and anyone who I come in contact with I shall share my experience. Bottom line Summit needs an overhaul I am done with this place and not being able to go on one side without getting shot at because I am black, automatically accusing us of setting our own garage on fire, thinking we don't own our house(just rented it for 18yrs...cause who does that...seriously). Oh and not to mention they are in cars now harassing people yelling out different gangs and what not with guns and crap ugh! Someone please help this place!

To Smartandsassy.....yup them cops be crooked all right just like the time some white guy broke in your house and those summit pigs caught him right? Or like the time your garage burned down the first time 3 years ago and the summit popo ran to your garage with fire extinguishers because they got there before the FD.....Get a life and deflect your hate somewhere else.

Why is it soooo hard for people to look in the mirror and blame themselves once in a while? It's odd that I saw kids( the ones that live at the house where the garage burned down) running from inside of it. Then all of a sudden there's smoke coming from it. Coincidence. I think not. Why is it when something happens to a person and they lie about what happened and get called on it they automatically pull the race card? Because they have no other excuse

Mr.Ridiculous-

Since you know so much-what would you say concerns our residents? From what I heard people dont like Ted becasue he knows what he is talking about and that is why they got rid of him. A board that has things to hide and runs thing underneath the table dont want anyone taking a stance, therfore they get puppets on thier ticket. When was the last time anyone voted no and they actually discussed a issue..in todays world there are always debates-but i guess summit it a perfect world with holes in thier streets-gang fights-and foreclosed properties-not to mention the high water bills- but hey that ok right? Not to mentions our underfunded police pension and overpaid adminstrators...

Why is it so hard for the firemen to stay out of politics? This sounds like your uninformed rants. As usual. You are a part time dept with union protection for your part time jobs. Be quite. You have it pretty good

You might be right, I don't recall ever seeing a "NO" vote by any of the trustees. If anyone can find one please let us know.

Freedom of Information if you are so concerned about no votes. There has been by a couple of the trustees. Those that know how to stand their ground.

It is sad that they use that race card and more than 3 people also seen those kids coming from that garage. But nothing will be done about it. Its strange how smartandsassy states that why would they burn there own garage down like as if they don't own there house only rent it for 18 years. They don't it's been inforcloser for 3 years now.

Is there something wrong with Mayor Joe? Last nights board meeting he was limping and holding his side. He looks very sick and distant. I was told he lives in a nursing home out of town due to his health. If he is sick, he should tell the people of town and be honest with the taxpayers. Something is not right. Can he run for another term?

WOW, and I heard he is running a marathon this spring and his training schedule is very aggressive and that may be runners cramps. I hear he runs 2 hours daily on his treadmill? If you question where he lives, go visit him at his house, or does the dog turn lights off and on?

Pretty brave coming from someone from last nights meeting. Of the 12 people there, 6 were Joe supporters and then there was Judy and Ted's group. Wonder where this came from.

I think Joe is going to be just fine!!!
