What a tragedy. A Wildside Ambrose struck down in his prime while standing on a corner with his idiot friends. Coming soon to 23rd & Oakley...a dead Satan Disciple. A culling of the herd one might say.

I saw his potential and I knew his demise. I knew the last time I said goodbye that things were just not gonna go right. He smiled and looked at me with the biggest brown eyes. He did not believe there were options and he really did not believe he would die. And, for why? And, yes, isn't it crazy someone else is probably going die. This has all gotta stop before more mothers are left with nothing to do but cry. He did not need to be doin what he was doin, but he did not deserve to end up like this.

oh pleeeeeeez!
maybe he didn't deserve it, but that's the life he chose.........lets not make him out to be some type of martyr, he was a low-life gangbanger and most probably would have never amounted to anything close to a productive member of society

Your sounding like you are claiming to be "a productive member of society" but your sitting here judging someone who you don't even know. You have no idea who he was and what the circumstances were. Let me say that if you knew him... you would never say anything like that about him. When a young life is lost, it doesn't matter how they died or lived their life, He died at a young age. He was a young man who did want a better life for himself. Wouldn't a "sorry" be more appropriate instead of calling him a "low-life gangbanger"? Just imagine if you had a family member at a young age in the same situation. Then, imagine you were me, reading the comment you wrote about him. Knowing he did want a better life for himself. He was a young human being who lost his life. Jonathan was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

They say first impressions mean a lot or you can "judge a book by its cover". When I first met Jonathan, my impression was "The boy next door" or he was the boy I would like my daughter to date. He was a well mannored young man. He was so pleasant to be around and to talk to. Just because he grew up in a area that most people couldn't imagine living in, he was a good person who thought of others first before himself. There was just something special about him that made you like him and take notice of him. Even though people grow up or live in bad neighborhoods doesn't mean they are bad people.
People make mistakes, and I know he had made a few himself, but who hasn't? They say there is a reason that we are put hear on Earth and I know Jonathan was put here to be a good, everlasting memory on the lives he touched. Because "He touched mine". As a mother, my heart goes out to his mother. Such a short life but a lifetime full of wonderful memories! God Bless Our Children.

yes alex, i am a productive member of society.
and to your lame comment"he was in the wrong place at the wrong time", give me a break.
as a productive member of society i taught my children to make wise choices. if you touch a hot stove burner you stand a good chance of getting burned. if you "hang" on a street corner with gangbangers at 5am, there is a good chance you can get shot.
so don't look for any pity from me.
and as far as feeling sorry for his mother(you never mentioned father), she should have raised him better so he made better choices in life. and don't give me the single mother line either, that just shows she made some poor choices, and instead of learning by her mistakes she passed the "dumb choice gene" on to her offspring.
Just so you know, I am not looking for ANY kind of PITTY from you at all. I think you are an ignorant person. I too am a productive member of society... Along with my family & friends. But what makes you think that you can just talk down about people who are unable to the lives that we live.
It doesn't matter... I think you are a total hypocrite. It's funny that you can just sit back & judge people for making wrong decisions, but I know for a fact that you had at one point in time, rebeled in your past... & if you tell me otherwise, than you are a damn liar because we all have. I don't care how much money we make, what kind of lifestyle we grew-up in, WE ALL MADE MISTAKES. So I am done wasting my time talking to someone who thinks he is better than anyone who makes some wrong choices in life.

yes alex,
i was a rebel in my younger years. i might have made a mistake or two in my life, but i learned from them, didn't make them over and over, or expect someone, or society to keep bailing me out.
so believe me you won't get any pity from me!

Mr. Productive Member,
I am a mother of 2 sons that joind the Army & the Marines. People said that it was a dump choice that they made, to joined the service. One of my sons went to Iraq, if he would have died, under your standards it would have been because of the stupid gene. My sons had made their own choices.
This Mother lost her son & it wasn't because of a dumb choice gene. You belittled her, in her time of hurt when she had lost her son. I hope because of your dumb choices in life, I hope no one will say to your mother that she pasted on the dumb choice gene to you. But where did you get it from?? If I were you, I would worry about the IGNORANT GENE CHOICE OF A LIFE that you pasted on to your children!! Hurry up, your stupid gene cup is overflowing!!

Hey Mr.Productive Member of Thinning the Herd, A life was taken.
A son died. A mom in pain. A father hurt. A family full of saddness. No matter what the circumstances. A young life lost. Reading all the comments, I did not see any one ask you for any pitty. I hope God has pitty on you. You sound like you need it! A life is still a valuable thing that God created.

To Mr. "keep thinning the herd" and "Breadfan:"

It disappoints me to read comments such as yours that have such a narrow point of view. If by "thinning the herd" and having gang bangers "end up like this" you think that society's violent mishaps will end, you are sadly mistaken. The solution to gang violence does not lie in having them end up dead. As mere human beings we do not hold the right to take another's life away, nor our own for that matter. Instead of DEATH being the solution, how about we think of ways to bring new life to these kids whose worlds have been limited by their upbringing, be it what it may. Its easy to point the blame to them or their parents but what good does that do? The reality is that there is an ongoing problem that results in tragic circumstances day after day, and if you care to contribute to the good of society you will place yourself outside of your convenient life for a minute and actually do something about it! These kids don't know any better than what is around them. Can YOU relate their lives? Welcome the challenge of educating yourself on this aspect of society rather than judging it from your convenient stand point. Pity is not required, but expanding your mind might help. Lets all move forward as part of the HUMAN RACE.
