Little Village and Pilsen area is a certain way and it should be left alone. The majority wants it that way. In Berwyn's case it was nice & peaceful and then all of sudden when the Mexicans moved in the housing codes were not inforced. Now how did that happen? Now Mexicans are the majority in Berwyn so maybe that's how. If they liked Berwyn the way it was they should have moved in like any other race moved in and followed the laws. And then Berwyn even though majority Mexican would still be nice & peaceful. But noooo!! They had to bring their Little Village and Pilsen habits to Berwyn. And you say pour more money to the school system. On 31st and Cicero by HOME RUNN INN they have a brand new fricking school. Is that area safe?

From another post... bill wrote: The only reason my wife and I want to move to the suburbs is because the Chicago Public School system totally sucks. Yes, there are magnet schools, but to get into them is a crap shoot. If the city improved its school system and mass transit system, I think alot more people would be willing to stay down here. We would. I love the fact that I do not own a second car and I can still walk to the grocery store, restaurants and parks. This city got away from itself by building all these condos without fixing the real problems that they have.

And another (re living in Chicago) seriously wrote: <quoted text> same with myself and my husband. I know when it comes time to start thinking about children, we will most likely be moving somewhere with better schools without having to pay more than a year's tuition at a moderately-priced university to educate a grade schooler. I want to send my kids to public school and, sadly, CPS isn't getting it done these days.

Those 2 posts show that Chicago has a sucky school system. But one of them said there are magnet schools. By any chance are those magnet schools in the Englewood or Little Village area? Schools suck not because of the teachers but on the class of the kids. As I stated before this year I was visiting a friend in Berwyn at 2:30 on a week day and kids were coming out of a catholic school. Mostly minority kids and they were very nice and behaved. Why because their parents taught them manors. Also in Berwyn same time I'm driving on way to Nonno's pizza and the regular school kids are coming out all noisy and rowdy. Cussing, swearing like a fight was gonna break out. Again minority kids. Same races, same town but different behavior. It starts at home.
