Topix is releasing IP addresses per Court order

If you think you can post negative things on here about people and get by with it then you are warned! First of all only appalachia and other nowhere towns are the ones that post on topix.(read the wikipedia on "topix").

Second a couple in Texas filed suit for topix to release IP addresses and then traced the addresses and won their lawsuit. So if you are a nobody with no life that posts on topix because you are spineless then GUESS WHAT you will be the next one to be in court.

Look up Mark and Rhonda Lesher and you will see.

In January 2009, a jury found the couple and their ranch hand not guilty on all charges, but before the three were indicted on the charges, a steady stream of attacks on the Web forum Topix.com started to flow.

After the Leshers filed their lawsuit in February 2009 against the anonymous commenters, a Texas judge ordered Topix to turn over identifying information about the anonymous posters. Information disclosed by Topix, including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, or the unique number assigned to each computer, led the couple to a business owned by the husband of a woman who accused the couple of sexual assault in 2008.

Libel and slander is not free speech.
They are not covered under the Constitution and offenders are subject to a civil penalty. hence the $13.78 million action.

Threats and threatening language are not protected under the 1st amendment either and are subject to criminal penalties.

Pointing out the legitimate concerns of a candidate running for public office are hardly libel or slander. What are legitimate concerns? Lack of experience, poor/insufficient background, no track record of achievements, etc. Pointing these out and even ribbing a candidate about them is to be expected in any campaign, and is no way slander/libel.
What is slander/libel? Stating lies. Particularly stating lies about cases which have already been brought to justice and closed.
So lets summarize. Speaking negatively about a candidate running for public office is 100% legal, as long as you are not knowingly (and sometimes even unknowingly) lying about that person.

You have no idea what you are saying, hahahahaha... You don't know how the internet or the legal system works. The issue you are running into here is that I DO know how things like this work. Just what do you think an IP address is? A magic number that leads to an individuals computer that can be tracked by google? Good luck with that. Have you been made aware the google is indeed NOT the internet and does not care about you in any way shape or form. Do you know anything about networking or even basic infrastructure? Please stop posting about this non sense over and over. People are smarter than you and everyone is laughing at your silly posts, please stop.

He just tracked your IP address (after he signed into his dial-up modem powered AOL account and chatted with strangers asking "asl", of course). Now that he has your IP address he's going to go to webcrawler.com and search "what is an IP address". Then he'll go downstairs, in his uncle's basement and go to sleep.
