This is the very kind of religion Jesus warned about. Man-centered and controlling. Jesus said "Go into the world and preach the gospel not isolate yourself and abuse women and children and look for my return." Too many fanatics take the Bible literally when it can only be understood spiritually. Too many want to usher in or live in an escapism mindset of a rapture and end times panic and fear. God says "fear not" all through his word and yet most religious folk do live in fear. We focus too much on the end of time when we should be more concerned with the end of OUR time, for IF you die today that is the end of time for YOU! God put you here to fulfill your purpose not to sit around waiting for the end. Get busy and never put your trust in a man for the Church then becomes a cult. Remember it was religion that crucified Jesus and it will try even today to crucify you too. Get free of religion and find the holy Spirit and he will guide you and lead you and you will not be mis-led by wolves in sheep clothing. Never look for an external answer to an internal problem. Jesus will change your heart and then your life from the inside out. Man cannot help but mis-lead you it's in his nature so beware the Bible warns of this kind and this day. The only way to discern this deception is to know what is truth in a personal relationship with the one who created it all. I'm glad they raided the place before it became another WACKO Waco situation. Anytime you see a self proclaimed Church or compound being constructed in an isolated area where people go and stay and never seem to leave it is cause for concern and a warning sign. Al Qaida does similar things only the name of thier God is different...

I also have to state that I disagree with the above postings on that church. It isn't from a "source" but from a topix poster and we all know that periodically posters aren't all there. I went to "mormon" wikipedia to check it out and there are things both easy to understand and difficult but nothing of this nature.

Thanks for the post, but Jon Krakauer is a raving lunatic. My children have been assigned to read several of his adventure books in high school and his is universally mocked even by teens who think everything is cool. I picked them up to read them thinking they were exaggerating. They weren't.

I wonder which one is worse. A polygamist religious sect that has very few crime problems in its compound and as far as I can tell any follower is free to leave whenever they want. Or a state entity that uses fat necked, beer bellied low IQ hired armed assassins to round up 400 children and put them into a concentration camp for their own good?
Who is next? Those nasty and dangerous looking Amish?

Mormon folks stop lying and trying to make like being a mormon is the right thing to do. It is wrong with false teachings and false prophets. That simple!!!

I think these little darlings should be put into a inner city school and let the culturally rich multicult "gangsta" influence show them the way real US children live in the 21st century. I just bet they will all soon have pieces of metal stuck in their faces and the crack of their butts showing out of the baggy pants while they truck on down the road listening to rap cr*p like real red blooded American kids.

I'm not the correct gender to give you a good answer, but IMO men like power and women like substance. Our maybe it's just the cooking and cleaning thing. Perhaps our male counterparts can advise us?

The founder prophet of Mormonism, Joseph had a vision from God telling him that a man may have more than one wife in order to populate easier. If a man has more than one wife he can have more children much quicker. If a woman has more than one man, what difference is it going to make? It still takes the same long time period to have a baby.
