BECKY: Again, I have no memory of the incident as she describes is.
The important words in BECKY's statement are "as she describes it".

We all know BECKY remembers incidents the way she WANTS to remember them. Not necessarily the way that they really happened. Like when she reported that Camp Paradise was destroyed by the SCPD. Now we all know that is not what happened. But BECKY, a self proclaimed "journalist", reported it in an "article" that it was indeed destroyed by the SCPD. The truth was that it was destroyed by a flood. An act of God. When pushed about this BECKY claimed that the events were just so confusing at the time. Now, sentient beings know the difference between police violence and an act of God. Not our BECKY. She said she reported it as she remembered it, although on further thought, yes, it was a flood and not the SCPD. The only problem was she wrote her "article two years after the event. All "confusion" should have been laid to rest by that time. Then, when caught stating something that was false, she tried to blame the publisher and editor of the publication her "article" appeared in. Later on she even said something to the effect of "I don't know why it was written that way". Even though she wrote it.

It's fair to say that other people watching the same event as BECKY will remember things more clearly. She has a history of getting "confused" when remembering the truth.

Nope. No business. No party. Just sad, like the choice to argue with the officer and actually ASK her to call for the complainant so that she could write them a ticket. Sigh.

lowerocean, I agree with your last several posts. I think there is obvious benefit for everyone to have things done civilly and in order, and thankfully our constitution allows for that regarding free speech. I think a lot rests on good stewardship of that right.
Heather
i thank you for your thoughtful and intelligent posts, i am a firm believer that the rights given by the constitution belong to everyone that is an American citizen. the problemm lies in the fact that many feel that the constitution only applies to people who have money, or a popular viewpoint. if we interpredted the constitution the way these people in the topix forum interpret it, we sould still have no civil rights for people of color, women, the poor etc. i hope that the good stewardship you speak of applies to the purity of the constitution, applying it equally, and not to judgement of what people use their freedom for. for example i do not like neo-nazis, or their mesage of hatred... but i will defend thier rights to say what they want. becky and her group were no more noisy than the dozens of things happening in the busiest district in town. i doubt anyone would be able to get much sleep downtown on any day of the week, and as such i believe that the verdict in this case was politically motivated. so much for a diverse, open minded santa cruz...

Have you all lived here as long as I have?? Singing etc. is what brings the local culture alive, without it we would just have a sterile, boring town that is the same as everywhere else. Also, this person's sleep was disrupted?? Noise ordinances end at 10:00 a.m., if you need to sleep in the middle of the day with no noise, downtown is probably not the best place to live! I'm not saying that certain people/things in this world aren't obnoxious, but I am saying that we need to learn to deal with them and co-exist period!!
Drugged out hippy drummers at the farmers market is not bringing the local culture alive.

There they are...

Uncle Bobbie that bon vivant, trend-setter of local fashion, seen here wearing a creation of his own design - a robe that protects the wearer from cosmic radiation, unsightly facial blemishes, and BO. Zebo the Bear completes the ensemble. Zebo has been Bobbie's best friend since childhood, providing Bobbie with countless new ideas and strategies for homeless advocacy. Bobbie is well known throughout the city for his lectures to the homeless on Sidewalk Schlepping. Hardbound copies of his text on the subject can be purchased through Book Shop Santa Cruz for a nominal fee.

Auntie Becky, Uncle Bobbie's favorite companion and videographer can be seen here with her cheribic, warm smile. Becky documents all of the "action" in Santa Cruz on her 23.33 mm video camera. Well known for her "unique" singing style, Becky's recent performance on Pacific Avenue was judged by the City and won her a "community service" award. Congratulations, Becky.

REMINDER TO DONNY B: I've asked you before and I am now asking again. Please do not call me "BJ". I use my real name for a reason. I am responsible for everything I say and do. Please stop.

I find it offensive and purposely disrespectful. I work as a local teacher, and my students may read these posts. They may mimic your language or find it funny to call me "BJ" in class. Indeed it has happened already, and I have dealt with it by asking them to stop. MY students cease upon my first request.

YOU however, in some kind of 5th grade, pottie humoresque fashion, continue to call me "BJ" again and again and again. Perhaps you get some perverse pleasure in doing so? But obviously your are rude and crude and don't have a REAL response to my points.

Most likely you are trying to make this forum hostile to any woman who comes in here and dares to speak an opinion different than yours. Making fun of my body, or using sexual entendre's when they are totally out of place, is a sure clue.

It's also bullying behavior. So. I ask again. Please call me Becky, or Ms. Johnson, or even Becky J.

Ms. Johnson? You must be joking. We're not your 3rd grade victims whose regular teacher called in sick today.

How about "Becks"? I don't like "Becky", either. It reminds me of a horror movie I once saw in the 80s.

BJ... I use initials when responding to an individual on Topix as a form of shorthand, just as you have in the past. You seem to forget the many times you've used an abbreviation of a persons name in these forums, or when you've resorted to name calling. Put away your sack cloth and ashes. Your self-proclaimed victim status wears thin.

I would think you would be more concerned about your students reading YOUR comments on Topix. They are more rude, crude, and disgusting than anything I could ever dream up.

Get over yourself BJ. If you don't want to be referred to by your initials, change your moniker. Might I suggest your first and middle names? Or just your first name. We'll know who you are. Really. Donny is DB, I'm RC, Dim Sum is DS. Initials are initials. That YOU decide they are something more than initials is your problem. I could refer to Xanthippe as X. Would she howl about the inferred connotation, or get over it? Sure, Donny B could decide that DB is *meant* to infer Dumb [email protected], or, as a rational person, he could recognize his own initials.

It's also bullying behavior to print a person's home address over and over and over again like SUM DIM recently did. Did you know that my car was vandalized at that address? Do you think you played a part?

BECKY: I get it now. When a cop comes by and tells you to shut up or move along while you are engaged in 1st amendment activities, you are supposed to SHUT UP and MOVE ALONG, not ask "How loud is too loud?" That is a question too far!! I know better now. Just SHUT UP and MOVE ALONG. What was I thinking?

CRAIG WRITES: "It's fair to say that other people watching the same event as BECKY will remember things more clearly. She has a history of getting "confused" when remembering the truth."

BECKY: Sure. SEAN REILLY in court "remembered" HUFF playing the electronic keyboard from 11AM to 3PM. However 6 other eyewitnesses testified the keyboard didn't arrive on the scene until 2PM. I remember arriving at 2:30PM. So it's true. I do remember things differently than others watching the same event.
