I was wondering if the state road was working on roads anywhere else? If not i would like to know what they are doing. I live on long run salem, and our road is so bad, if you are not careful you will lose your car in big pothole. I can't say that they don't work on it, because they do they just haven't figured out how to do it the right way. They dig dirt from the ditches and use and fill the holes, that last about a day and then it is gone. My husband and I have gotten flat tires in both our vehicles and have had to replace shocks, bushings, and alot crap, it is crazy. The thing is that Halls Drilling was running this road so we have called Halls Drilling and they say that they have paid the state road so much money to fix this road, so they say call them and find out. So we call the state road and they say they do not have the funds to fix this road..so someone is telling a lie. I just want to know if anyone has info on when they are really going to fix our road? Thank you so much for you time.

Your road sounds like mine minus the hall drilling traffic, we have cement trucks and Shackelford Trucking. In just a few days two trucks have managed to find themselves in a ditch. On one part of our road there is a hole turned into a trench that spans almost the width of the road. Cars can barely pass this section of the road. Sorry I'm venting.
I was told that you need to go to the state road, request a complaint form, fill out the form (sign and date), ask Anthony to read it in front of you and "give you a copy". Because you singed and dated it, and he read the complaint giving you a copy, so the other one can't get lost, they are liable for any damages to your vehicle(s) due to their neglect. Again this is what I was told we needed to do if they are neglecting our roads. I would suggest that if you do this you send a copy of the complaint to Charleston and Bridgeport in hopes that this will force them to fix your road. I wish you the best.

If it isnt the state roads, it's the county roads. Add into the mix all the drilling companies and their heavy trucks and the roads are the worst they have been in over 25 years. The answer is always the same..."not enough funds." The big question is where is all of our tax money going? It certainly isnt going to maintain the roads. With over a half million dollars a year going to the EMS (DCAA) contract in Doddridge county, it's no wonder our roads are in piss poor condition. Plus, when they do "repair" the roads, they are never fixed properly. It is always just a bandaid using convict labor, and within a week or two, the roads are right back where they started. If enough of our taxpayers start asking the right questions, and start complaining to the right people, MAYBE we might get some decent roads around here. "Not enough funds" is getting old and has become a lame excuse. Ther certainly seems to be enough funds to pay the local politicians' and officials' salaries. You can bet your farm that THEIR roads are being maintained properly. It is time for the PEOPLE who pay their taxes to start taking REAL action.

Good luck getting Anthony to read or sign anything! He runs the other way when a county resident goes in there to complain about the roads. All we ever hear hear is no $$ in the budget. Our road hasn't had gravel on it in years let alone the holes fixed. Calling Charleston is your best bet. If EVERYONE started calling, maybe something would be done

Money is being spent on Salaries and benefits to DOH Dynasty.
They say they don't have any money that is correct its all being spent on employees that don't have to drive on those country roads.
Long run is insignificant in the political arena in other words you guys got no political power cause you got no votes. Just keep paying your taxes. Forget your cars are being demo'ed by the pot holes just pay the mechanics to fix'em then fight with the inspection people to get a sticker. If the DOH has no money why have thousands of employees sit around and draw pay for nothing. They have no asphalt to fix the roads so let em go home.

This State has 65,000 State employees.
You can see their Salaries here This does not include benefits. It's a large PDF file so give it a little time to load

http://media.graytvinc.com/documents/2006WVGr...

Ps: check out the guys salary that sets in the DOH pickup and reads the paper while the 2 other guys pick up trash. Two out three men working thats a 33% waste of taxpayer money right there. Have you noticed the News media has not picked up on this inefficient procedure.

If only you guys knew how much the state road does do. And they can't do blacktop on roads till there is better weather or summer come. Anyone knows that.

The state road came down the road yesterday and put gravel in some of the holes but didn't cover all of them and today the gravel is almost out of all the holes. I am sorry to hear that there are other roads in this condition. I hope something is going to be done soon. Thanks for the information that was given to my questions.

Kid,
I do know how much state road does for Doddridge County roads.....little to nothing. And when they do repairs, they use convict labor (who arrive late in the morning and must leave to be back in lock-up by 3:00 PM.) They usually start "bandaiding" somewhere far down the road and miss most of the worst spots. I have contact WVDOH many times and have always gotten the response that they have NO idea when the roads will be repaired PROPERLY. The rumor has been going around that DOH is waiting for drilling companies to pony up some of the cost of repairs, but again, that is rumor. I do know that the left fork of Arnold's Creek Road was recently paved with most of the cost coming from the drilling company. However, the right fork of Arnold's Creek is in far worse condition and hasnt been touched. Don't go defending DOH. You have no leg to stand on. The simple fact is that Doddridge County roads are in extremely horrible condition and DOH doesn't give a damn about the taxpayers who live here. If WVDOH has so many employees sitting around collecting salaries with nothing to do, WHY are they using convict labor??? Doddridge County has money, but it is going to all the WRONG places.

Well little kid if you were old enough to drive or old enough to have sense you would know "like the rest of the tax payers that drive the shitty roads in Doddridge County" that the shitty roads tear up the cars that you drive. Why in the hell do i pay a bunch of money in taxes if the County does nothing to fix the issues we are having? All of those pot holes tear up your tires and your car.

Well first off even if the state road did repair roads all these nice oil and gas companies would just tear it up. It's sad you have a perfectly good road and out comes the big trucks doing nothing but tearing up property and screwing up the roads. It would be pointless for state road to work there butts off to repair roads when these companies could care less and just tear them back up. Something needs to be done. So sick of the oil and gas trucks flying around not having a care in the world for the citizens of this county. The absolute worst for this is the Bee family. They flat out fly and haven't a care in the world. Mark my word there is going to be a nasty accident if they don't start slowing down.

IT'S A DOUBLE EDGED SWORD, DON'T YOU THINK. THOSE COMPANIES WHO ARE TEARING UP THE ROADS ARE THE SAME COMPANIES BRINGING JOBS TO THIS AREA. TOUGH TO ARGUE WITH THAT ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY TOO ARE JUST DOING WHAT THEY ARE BEING TOLD TO DO, LIKE YOUR STATE ROAD WORKERS

@WHY: Bringing jobs to the area? Do you realize that the salaries being paid to the local workers who work for these drilling/gas companies are a drop in the bucket compared to what is going OUT of the county and OUT of the state? Doddridge County is chock full of natural resources, but the residents of Doddridge don't even get the chance to reap some of the benefits, because the vast majority of that money is going to the giant conglomerates OUT of state. We who live here are simply peons to them. We are nothing but PROBLEMS standing in the way of their profits. Yes, these workers are doing what they are told, yet they contribute to the downward spiral of OUR county by aiding the drilling/gas companies to take OUR resources and run away with the money. Not to mention what they are doing to our environment and our properties. Make no mistake, these workers and the companies they work for don't give a DAMN about you or me!! They all serve the almighty dollar and could care less about the residents (case in point: the coal companies who blatantly overlooked safety violations in the mines and allowed miners to DIE, just so their profit margin could go up, up, up.) These drilling and gas companies are NO DIFFERENT! I do not blame the workers as much as I blame the higher-ups. These are the bastards we need to address. I find it VERY strange that Doddridge County had the money to pave and repair our roads BEFORE this latest wave of drilling, but now, while a huge amount of money is being taken out of the ground, the county is broke......GO FIGURE!!!!!

AND, just ask these oil & gas workers where they are from...Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas. Look at the license plates going to and from the drill sites! Okay, locals do work for EQT, dominion, etc but many, many of them are from out of state and the drillers are not from WV either. I'm tired of the powers in charleston telling us all this resource development is good for the folks in this state. Not when these companies come in and don't hire any local people, tear up our roads and meadows and don't give a crap about the mess they leave

I am sooo sick of listening to everyone bitch about the same crap ALLL of the time... my husband works for the DOH and my mom's road ( which was my road until a few months ago) is crappy too. But they do what they can... I agree that it sucks! As for their benefits and pay... they don't get paid much at all... the benefits they just raised them 5%, I believe. This is how my husband provides for me and my son. It just makes me sad that people have to rant here about this sort of thing... it sucks but not just for you...
