Fund Raiser to Fix Pool

That's not up to the Mayor- a decision like that has to be approved by the council. Since council hasn't debated the issue, the pool is not getting filled in at this time.

what was up with the illegal council mtg that took place friday evening there was not a notice given to the public 72 hourss prior as the open meetings act requires, the agenda was not posted on the door when is someone on council gonna stop the dictator and his todey ?

Friday night's meeting was to talk about the bids that were received for city property that is for sale. Nothing secret went on.

I understand what the meeting was about, but the point is if you call a special meeting for whatever reason you have to give 72 hours notice or three business days, the agenda has to be posted on the door, minutes of the meeting has to be taken, the meeting has to be open to the public and the meeting date time and where the meeting is going to be held has to be in the newspaper. Only in cases of emergencies can a meeting be held without the above mentioned procedure WV State code open meeting act explains all that. There for if the procedure was not followed for Friday’s meeting it was an illegal meeting and the ethics commission needs to be notified.

again why does our elected or in most cases appointed city ouncil people know the rules and live by them instead of blindly following the dictator and todey.

I don't know the answer to that question. Maybe you should ask them some time. My guess might be that they don't take the job seriously or they have their own agendas.

Ethics commission could care less,they are tired of petty fights in Salem council.

No,use the money from Dog Run reservoir to fix it .

What money from Dog Run Reservoir? There is no contract to do anything at Dog Run. On Friday Antero presented the city with a 10 day notice to drill WITH NO WRITTEN CONTRACT. The city was smart enough not to sign a contract that would have been a rip off.

You say,the oil companies getting free water? I did,nt say anything about a contract I said use the money they are getting to fix the pool. The oil companies did,nt just go down there and hook up to the water system on their own you know. CM had to ok that.

There is no money to fix the pool. I just asked if people would give money. To see if citizens are willing to put up or shut up. The oil and gas company is getting water from where ever they can, with or without permission. Right now they plan to drill and don't care about having permission because the city didn't take the crappy deal they offered.

What? Yes, I know I'm not on the park board anymore. Because the Mayor already had a plan in place. No one else was allowed to share any ideas. Oh wait, that's what happens at council meetings too. Thankfully this is a public forum and anyone can say what they think. I don't know who you are- but you don't have any right to tell me to shut up. Why don't you identify yourself- you know me.

Why do you want me to stop giving my opinion? I'm not hurting anyone. Only a few people read this...Is what I'm saying gonna ruin some deal you've got going, or are you just someone who thinks you're smarter than everyone else? Which ever reason it is-I'll stop when it's not fun anymore.

I am interested in the cost of repairing the pool and a fundraiser to fix it to get it up and running however, I do not think that fixing a pool that old would be worth the cost and repair. Now however if it were to buy a new fiberglass preformed pool and put it in ,I think would be a better suggestion. Get grant moneys along with matching funds from the fundraiser to build an all new pool area but why should it be put on property that the town of Salem does not own? I also think that the town should have had enough sense to at least drain the pool and stop the mosquito infestation and further deterioration of the pool by letting it sit in such a condition as it is, it shows that the town has no respect for its properties and is citizens .

The pool is beyond repair. Need to get vice mayor samples to write a grant for a new one. But he is far too busy kissing the mayors behind to do anything else.
