I have a friend whose child is a Facebook "friend" with a Life Impact Church youth pastor(according to his profile).

Recently he has made some very questionable posts on Facebook. Today he says and I quote, "Some movies just need to go hard R with gore and nudity and just have fun...Shark Night is one of those movies. PG-13 is no good for this type of movie."

My question is, just what are they Pastoring to the youth at that church?

Should West Union feel comfortable with this new "rehab" center in the middle of town if this is the kinds of things the youth pastor is teaching kids, what will they be teaching the addicts at the rehab center?

Why would someone with so many minors as friends on Facebook even make such a post? Is that suitable commentary to be making in front of children, youth pastor or not?

The senior pastor is friends with this guy on Facebook so he has to see his posts, I wonder what he thinks of this?

Looks like he must read Topix, word is that wall post is gone.

Good judgement in taking it down, question still remains, why post it in the first place?

I know this guy, kind of a screw ball but nice enough guy. Good heart.

I will say I am not in support of this drug thing in town but I will defend this young man...he's not your typical "christian" but he care a lot about the kids he pastors.

With talk like that you think he really cares for the kids?

You should look closer at his profile page too. I mean what "Pastor" listens to bands like Rage Against the Machine...he list himself as a Democrat (a liberal one at that).

Think about this "church" and what they're teaching. This guy who a few years ago was so Pro-Gay Rights I thought he might be a closeted gay himself

This church has always been a little out there but with talk about this "rehab" and the fact that openly gay kids go to that youth group...something is wrong in that church and now their spreading it to the rest of the community

Don't know if I would trust my kids around someone like that.

Well I can guarantee that that youth pastor and that church have reached more young people than your "normal" ones. I know for a fact this man cares for these kids. He would do anything (and does) for them.
Oh and so basically the people who you think NEED to go to church...the church shouldn't have anything to do with them? yeah that makes so much sense.

Well I'm happy you think so, but if by "reaching them" you mean he tells them its ok to be GAY or that its ok to watch vile filth.

The point that Herbert is making is why is this guy a Youth Pastor to begin with? Is he qualified? or is it that he is the senior pastor's cousin?

I mean does the parents of these kids know what this guy believes? And sure their parking lot is full but that doesn't mean they are really teaching the WORD of God to anyone. You can fill up a parking lot making people feel better but that won't keep em out of hell.

I've seen some of the kids in that youth group, going to church isn't helping trust me...

Ok lets not act like it wouldnt be a normal thing around here for someone to get a position because of who they're related to or know. And with many of those people that fact is never brought up.
I've been there. They are most definitely teaching the WORD of God.
Ok so you've seen some of them. For one...you dont know what those kids you saw are going through. Second...you only saw a few of the kids that go there.
Finally, wow you guys are judgmental

I would say with all the posts above..I would be worried about my kids being around you! Judgemental, but MOST importantly NOT Christian like....wow I didn't know that such good Christians would spread such hatred and judgement, sounds like you need to find a new church yourself because you certainly are NOT learning Christian values at the one you are currently attending.

Nicole, I think your response is the reason why some are questioning the Youth Pastor's credentials.

I have seen no one hear say that gays, or any kind of sinner should not be in church. Just the opposite, sinners need to hear the word of God from preachers in church.

But you are saying he "reached" more children. If telling kids that a movie needs more gore and nudity is "reaching" them, I'm not sure that is what a church should be doing. What good does it do to reach pout to a child and tell them they need more sin in their life?

Sinners should always be invited to church, a pastor should never encourage more sin. Going to church will get no one into heaven. It does zero good for these kids to get them into church if this is what the youth pastor is spewing. Why should they reconfigure their life if he is publicly wishing to see more nudity in a movie?

This is a legitimate question.

So do you consider a youth pastor wanting more nudity in a movie a good way to teach Christian values? I curious as to your response. Please try to be civil.

It should be remembered that this isn't a rumor topic. These are actual things the Youth Pastor typed on Facebook. I keep seeing people defending the pastor but not mentioning what he has actually said. What is their defense of his words? Are they indefensible?

Have you ever been there for a service? If not, how can you make uneducated decisions about them?

I don't think the posts above were referring to the services, but rather the youth pastor publicly stating he would like to see more nudity in a film.

If you can't follow the conversation in this post, how do you make educated decisions? What are your thoughts on a youth pastor posting that he would like to see more nudity in films?

Is it your contention that what the pastor says to children outside of church has no bearing on their lives?

This is amazing. This is the third or forth time in this forum that I have heard someone say something of this nature. It seems that a children's pastor advocating more nudity in films isn't a problem because at least the church is doing "something".

judge ye least ye be judged! in other words let those without sin cast the first stone! which one of you is without sin? last i heard only Jesus can make that claim.
so what if some ones gay or unconventional that doesn't make them evil. personally i don't want my kids to be influenced by a bible thumper that says one thing and dose another. how many go to church then go home and gossips, drinks, drugs, judges others, over eats, porn, cheats, lies, steals, or what ever their little secrets are? who ever you are you need to quit judging others and take a long look at your own life and get ready to be judged!
if some one is doing good by the youths of today then let them be. in this world at least some one cares enough to try and help. most just shake their heads and look the other way, why? are we to scared that we may be judged a bad influence if we were in the lime light? hey, maybe we are just to lazy to do what needs to be done! maybe we are like so many who think we are too good to get down in the trenches and pull up our sleeves.
unless you are in those trenches doing every thing you can then you have no right to judge others who are. read your bible!
