Ouisa Davis: Fireworks ban is the right thing for El Paso

Full story: El Paso Times

The recent ban on personal fireworks displays in El Paso County has brought screams and raves from those who care less about fire danger and damage to property and more about their individual rights to engage in pyrotechnics.

Just like her daddy obama, this writer thinks she knows everything about everything. Now she is an expert on fire safety.
What a joke of a column

At first I was against the ban because it seemed so heavy handed. But after reading this lady, I'm in favor of it. She explains why it makes sense and why we should always trust the government to know and do what is right. She's persuaded me.

Think of it this way RICHARD, if fireworks were allowed around the town, would YOUR house still be standing on July 5th?? She's right and you hate it that she's right. She seems to know a lot more than YOU do! So be it!

It took a lady to write a column to persuade you? Dont you have any common sense?

All this was just common sense, Ouisa just blew it when she mentioned car washes for fundraising. You can also sell cupcakes, cookies, etc.

Smartest ordiance ever!! I would much rather not see fireworks than see devastation of lost homes and people. Honestly people grow up !! Consideration for other's is the AMERICAN WAY!! Not FIREWORKS!!

I do but sometimes it gets lost amidst my fierce desire to uphold individual liberty and responsibility. But this lady has a special way with words, a real flair for persuasion and the unique ability to cut through the crapola and get to the heart of a matter.

I have a crisp one dollar bill to the first person who doesn't hear a firework pop in their neighborhood.

Ouisa as usual you have more guts than most people. Thanks for standing up for common sense. A very close family of mine has lost their home due to the fires in AZ.. Some just want to make money by selling fireworks but don't really care about the community. Thanks for writing for common sense and concern for our community.

None of these fires stated because of fireworks being set off. The one in Huntsville was caused by a barbecue grill so do we now need to ban cookouts. Where does we draw the line to the actions of moral busybodies?
