Thank you to Ramon for his diligence in getting this story into print. We would like to invite El Paso to stop by and take a tour anytime y'all are out our way.

Yay! Van Horn, Texas the newest tourist destination. Offering better deals, better eats, and superb accommodations West of the Pecos.

Move over New Orleans!

Van Horn gets it, dont bulldoze everything in sight to build empty skyscapers.

You cleanand renovate the unqiue treasures in the town. After a while all skyscaper and mall infested cities look the same.

Are you paying attention city hall? Or is the problem that Van Horn's example would cut into friends profits and campaign contributions ?

That looks like such a great place. We'll go spend a day or two down there, more if they have some horses to ride, or a good, 3-mile (or more, one way) bike path somewhere.

Or if we want to hang out in the Davis or Other Mountains in the vicinity.

Here are some of the things Van Horn has going for it: Ski. Air. Altitude. Climate/weather. Surrounding mountains and charming places/historical places/hysterical places.

Marfa Lights. Real Mexican food all over the place,'till you get to Ft. Stockton and cross the Pecos into "Tex-Mex Gunk" land.

Real mountain forests in texas (look quick!).

Yeah, what ever did happen to the Cortez Hotel? And the Hilton, which if my memory soives me right, was one of, or THE, original big Hilton?

What ever happened to that hotel down a few blocks from the Plaza Theatre, that beautiful, light and airy, very Southwestern, old hotel, where cattlemen from Messy-cow, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and the 51st state of Far West Texas, used to do business, and make multi-million dollar deals with a handshake?

Holy Gamoly, how could I forget to mention Terlingua/Presidio! Hatch is where you go for good raw chile, and Terlingua is where you go for good CHILE!

EEEE-Ja!

And of course, Presidio is where you cross to take the train that goes to Topolobampo, via la Sierra de los Tarahumaras. There's a wild man running all over the canyons there--a gringo from Ohio. Parece espanto...
but the Raramuri have accepted him as a nagual.

Stanpendejo,

That wild man is nothing but a sick streaker, running with his balls hanging out. When the Tarahumaras get to him he is going to become testicle soup.
