So tragic... the reports say that both mother and son were ejected out of the KIA upon impact, were they not wearing their seat-belts?

Not again! We've lost so many young people recently in our area. My kids knew Justin from classes. They're very upset. I had the same question about the seat belts. The reports say they are not sure who was driving, and were ejected, which all says no seat belts to me.

The only thing worse than loosing loved ones is losing them due to something that is so easily preventable.

PLEASE buckle up. Having personally had the displeasure of hanging upside down in a seat belt myself, I know how important it is.

Seat belts weren't going to help much in this situation, it was a just a terrible accident.

Jill, you should examine your life and how you're living it. While the language of the other poster is crude the sentiment is right on.

I don't know why people on here are criticizing you. I understand that the tragedy is too recent to discuss possible safety measures but then again maybe it is a good time.

My aunt gave me a prayer in 1993 when I was dealing with something big. The title was "there is a reason". Every paragraphed was answered with "there is a reason" and at the end it stated "and God knows the reason."

I always felt that the message was that something horrible has happened and it cannot be reversed but in order to make any sense of the tragedy sometimes we can look to the good that can come out of a tragedy when there just seems tobe no good to have come out of it. In other words at the least maybe many others lives will be saved due to the attention to seat belts that has come out of the accident. When there seems to be no reasoning we all need to reach deep thinking and prayer and to be with God.

This accident is a tragedy that I am sure has wrecked her and her sons' family and friends. May God watch over all of them and to give them the strength to go on as they deal with such a great loss.May God send his guardian angles down upon this family to guide them and to assist them in dealing with their grief from this loss. God Bless this family!

I ask others that do not agree with me politically to please do not comment on this thread with negative remarks. This family needs strength and prayers!!

Jill isn't being insensitive. Wear your seatbelts. It's never too recent to discuss public safety measures.

Yes it was a tragic accident but if any good comes from it then it will be seatbelt awareness.

And yes the seatbelts would have made a difference as the vehicle's compartment was in good shape and was intact.

it's being reported she had a suspended license as well.

no license, no seatbelts, crossed the center line.

Each, increasing the possibility of something bad hapening.

Doesn't mean I feel any less sorrow for them or that I think they are bad people but, things could have been very different in this case if any one of those things weren't true.

Needless to say, a EMT who is driving with a suspended license; or who let's her son drive with a permit while she herself does not have a valid license; has very little fear of having any trouble with the local law. It is common knowledge that the police do not hold themselves, their friends, their family members, nor Fire Department Workers/EMTs to the same standard that they hold the general public.

In other words; two completely different outcomes when it comes to driving with a suspended license. If you are simply a member of the general public with no ties whatsoever to the police department, you will face the full penalties for driving with a suspended license. But, if you HAVE ties to the police department (as a EMT does) you will most likely get a free pass....

You are absolutely right! Ambulance and firetruck drivers are the biggest offenders. More than once I've seen them with sirens blaring and honking their annoying horn and then they go right thru a RED light!! I'm like "Hello the light hasn't changed yet!". Total special treatment!!!!!

Calling the kettle black? The person that you are talking to is straight as an arrow. One thing to think about yourself; Aids is spread through heterosexual sex as well!

You are so narrow minded and completely a very nasty individual!

Lynch stop kidding yourself. You wanted the off duty cop to slap you down so you could try and sue. You complained about lack of street lights on campus so you could try and sue then when you got a light you complained about that. Your latest is snow plows plowing snow onto the sidewalk. I'm sure you believe somehow you can sue for that. The city is on to your endless complaints.

I wonder if the I-team followed you around for two weeks instead of Deneault what they would find?
