Actually, they've been back for five years. But they have "come a long way" since then, according to William J. Mickle III, referring to the Pittsfield Police Auxiliary, the part-time reserve unit he ...

The current auxillary cops are no way near as cool as we used to be. We used to go out and kick a**. At the end of a busy shift, while the "real" pittsfield police were going out and getting drunk, we had really super cool partys. Nothing was funnier then when Danny Salz used to dress in his thong and police beat and shake-it like it was going to fall off to the sweet sounds of the village people. Now, the aux cops have to work a certain amount of hours to be "part of the team." When Danny ran the unit, we get initiated by playing "place the baton in the cave." Let me tell you, there were some expanding batons in that game. Once, we even fooled cheif reillo. We had a party with baby-oil, batons, handcuffs, etc, and the floor was just covered in baby-oil. Cheif reillo wanted to know why the floor was so slick. We told him it was becasue we changed all the oil ourself in the cars. He got fooled and left. The good ole-days of being an aux policeman in pittsfield.

Wow, that's really cool. You guys really party! Are you in SF now, perhaps on Market & Castro, or is that just your ISP location? Regardless, "not that there is anything wrong with that..."

Part time and reserve academies are a joke. Have I heard of part time police officers, yes many towns in this area have them.

Most aux are wannabe's or never will be's.
Should they carry guns? NO WAY, should they even be allowed to wear a uniform, NO WAY.

Lanesborough has what 4 "part time" officers?
Hinsdale, Richmond, W. Stockbridge...part time police officers there too.

Your point is.......what, you were threatened by a bunch of "WANNABE'S". If they were never will be's then why are you defensive. there should be no need for you feeling threatened. Were you scared to think that we would what, be doing road standbys during severe weather sitting outside of the car in the rain doing traffic, not in the car sleeping, having coffee, playing games on your in car computer.thats the difference between someone liking what they can do for their community or someone not caring about the community who hired them.

So everyone in the City of Pittsfield can be educated, the auxiliary units of both past and present were and are only dedicated to serving the public in a capacity of a volunteer mode, no pay, no compensation, or even an expectation of a thank you, for getting up in the middle of the night, to standby on a dark street blocking it off because of wires down, trees down in the roadway from a severe storm. These events happened at night, day, summer, winter, good weather or bad so the full time officers could return to protecting the community for which they have been sworn to protect. At no time did we ever overstep our bounds by doing more than we were told by our Cheif or liason officer at the time. I'm sure the current Auxiliary Dept. follows and does what they have and will be instructed to do. The problem lays with miscommunication. If at anypoint the fulltime officers felt threatened by our duties then we should have sat down and put down on the table with the powers that be, what we have been told and will be told to do when we were on duty. The full time officers only wanted to create annymosity between the two departments. Anything that is printed or stated, regardless of past rumors, the truth will only be known by a select few and I am proud to say that I was part of a department consisting of willing volunteers that were once willing to help their community and the fine officers of Pittsfield but now, unfortunately, are reluctant to volunteer again for theit community for fear of being labeled as "ROGUE" or "RECKLESS" or "WANNABE". Well alot of those guys I worked with were and are in proffesional departments in corrections, law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire departments. The way it sounds to me is if any of these guys wanted to become a full time officer it was a obtainable but they chose to volunteer. Volunteers are an uncommon resource in these days of rising fuel prices and tight financial times, but I guess when someone does voluteer, then we should all shun them and tell them we are better to work shorthanded and not be able to immediately respond to a possible breakin because the officer in your area is directing traffic in Allendale because the power is out from a storm. I hope you can wait until he gets there and you don't get killed. I leave it at that.

Part time reserve academy is NOT full time academy, half you pukes would wash out in full time. of those that are left, maybe 25% are worth something.
Know your place.
Aux=wannabe's that never were.
....and I'm sure that you would be above and beyond all others in this field, right? Pretty opinionated statement with zero substance if you ask me.... Your place isn't here either, little one. Go away, get a clue, and come back when you have something intelligent to say. Other than that you are nothing, will never be anything, and even if you were, no one would care about you.... Tired of you whiny antagonists who hide behind your computers with nothing at all intelligent to say, but yet still seem to know it all... Lame....

We're still waiting for you to say something smart there champ... What makes them a joke? Have you ever been to one of the Aux academies or are you going on what others have told you in the past? Are you a police officer or just some bitter schmo getting fatter by the day in his lonely house? Intrigue us here..... Why should we believe what you have to say as opposed to all of the other better written responses here in this subject?
Go home, snuggle up to your boyfriend, then ask him to help you rewrite your claim to knowing it all then get back to us here at the Eagle forums. We'd love to hear from you again....

Aux Cops are Jokes wrote:
Aux Cop=Somebody who can't cut it on a real PD.
When the s*&t hits the fan, who does an Aux Cop call? You guessed it, the real PD. I have been to a part-time academy. When the night was over, I felt like I had just walked out of a comedy club there were some many jokes in there. I once watched two bumble-dick aux cops almost fall into oncoming traffic, after one dropped his 10 battery flash-light and the other tripped on it. Real cool guys!
For a second, you brought fear into my eyes, then it was tears of laughter. Why do most Aux Cops have more equipment on their belts than a real PO? I once saw a guy barely get out of his aux police car, because he had on his belt: radio, 3 flashlight, long baton, expandable baton, 6 pairs of handcuffs, a grenade launcher, and an anti-aircraft stinger missle all on his belt. Oh and the old aux cops of Pittsfield, they also had 3 tubes of lipstick and 2 bottles of KY jelly on their belts.
You are a foolish piece of crap with no clue as to what you are talking about. Must Aux. Cops start there and further advance on to local or state police agencies all over the country. So pull your plugger out from between your legs

it really depends on the person who is assigned as the auxiliary captain and his or her roll as that ranking officer. The image that the person in high rank puts out is how the police department will see the auxiliary unit as.if you appoint a person who has structure and discipline and who is organized with leadership skills then you will have a great "outfit" of an auxiliary team. recruitment helps too. you want males or females who can be trained and to understand and do there part without overstepping the bounderies with law enforcement...remember the chain of command is the Police offcer not the Auxiliary captain or lower ranking aux officer.

and liars and thugs and pigs. Excessive force, sexual advances, even alleged rape, and fabricating multiple police reports most likely comes under perks of being a cop in the manual.
