Why would this shock anyone! You have the biggest bandit in town who dose not pay his taxes. This is the tip of the iceberg. Look around. There is more than one way to steel from the town. Who works a full week in the club house. Wake up tax papers. Start digging! Oh that’s what some one dose in this story!

Complaining about someone's grammar with an equally grammar-challenged post is epic irony. You probably don't understand what the previous sentence means, so I'll lay it out in street talk: You're a moron!

So, we have 4 posts here, and only 2 of them address the topic. Sounds about right for Pittsfield.

The woman stole from her employer. That is possibly the dumbest thing a person can do. It's like taking money from your mother's purse. Violating a trust makes a person very dirty indeed. Who's going to give her a job when all this is ended? I wouldn't want her in any kind of trusted position, not even at Cumby's.

So we've already arrested her, put her through the trial and convicted her. I think this mob has achieved its justice. Next case please!

$7,000?
It'll cost Tina Cooper five times that just for the attorney to represent her.
Too bad.
Had Ms. Cooper gotten a job with WAMC instead, she could have gotten away with far more and never been caught.

Typical Heller/Skelter. If it's not a right wing rant, it's a shot at WAMC. Such diversity!

in West Stockbridge? It's just a question. And now back to the story on Feb.20th the berkshire eagle reported that a source said the amount of money taken by Cooper "did not appear to be on the level of what was taken last time". Last time being when a former town employee Elizabeth Lavalette was indicted for embezzling $58,000. Lavalette worked for the town for 18 years. So over a period of 2 years Cooper is alleged to have taken $7000,. It appears that at that rate she's almost right on track with the former embezzler.

With her accounting skills she can get a position in the IRS, overseeing Obamacare.

I wish I voted for Liz DiGrigoli in 06, she REALLY cared for the townies.
Tina Cooper said she would represent the people, all she did was steal from the taxpayers that trusted her with her innocent persona.
Her campaign was "she represented change", how ironic all the "change" ended in her pocket.

Shame, shame, shame!!!

The fact is that the public has NEVER been allowed access to WAMC Northeast Public Radio's books.
Further, directly contrary to the recommended 'best practices' of its own industry, WAMC does NOT rotate auditors every five years.
This recommendation, to rotate those auditing a corporation's books, came about as a direct result of the accounting scandals at United Ways of America, Enron, Worldcom, Global Crossing, etc. and is meant to provide protection against those in an organization who commit internal fraud -- exactly the kind of fraud that took place in the instant matter in West Stockbridge and was specifically uncovered by auditors.
Because WAMC Management refuses to rotate the broadcaster's auditors (WAMC has used the same audit firm since 1981), the tax-exempt $7.2 million that WAMC pulls in annually from listeners, underwriters and government grants is certainly ripe for embezzlement or outright theft because there are insufficient internal controls to detect and expose such activities if such were going on.
How would anyone on WAMC's Board of Trustees know if anyone within WAMC were diverting funds if the Trustees do not insist on putting into effect its own industry's best practices recommendations regarding corporate accounting?
Good accounting is what exposed the missing $7,000 in the case of West Stockbridge; what might similar good accounting discover if applied to nearly 30 years of failing to follow best practices at WAMC?
makes one wonder

I do not understand the secrecy myself. If there was nothing to hide you would think they would be happy to share the books just to shut you up.

I've been in this town for the better part of the last 20 years. Ms. Cooper steals from her "nephew" who owns the Market, she stole from the W.S.S.C. when her ex-"boyfriend" was the bar manager, she stole pills from a dying cancer patient, all to supply her habit, why oh why is anyone surprised. She is a loser and an alcoholic/ addict....big shocker here

so I'm just guessing that all of this didn't happen in the last two years. If all of the above is true did anyone voice an objection or concerns that maybe she's wasn't the right person for these positions. People talk so what was the talk before she got the select board and town clerk positions. How did she get these jobs?

$7000. Whoopee-doo. How come the eagle hasn't written one word about Barrett's mismanagement of 2008-2010 $1.6 million that effects every tax payer in North Adams. Why do they protect this guy?
