Whatever came of the case of that guy Bostrom hired to work in the jail and who stole all of that money off of an inmate's debit card a few months ago? Didn't he steal a couple of thousand dollars from the inmate? Did the thief go to court, yet? And, who reimbursed the former inmate for the money that Bostrom's employee stole? Let me guess...the taxpayers. Gotta love that "character based hiring"!!

hahah look at all these BOSTROM cronies, they fall for it every time. Matty Boy is a weak leader ask any SPPD Federation member, they do not support him and glad he's gone (thank god).

How about the Bostrom neighbor/crony and who was recently caught stealing money in the jail. Bostrom hires these thugs to work for him for political favors.

How about that dork hes got working for him, his PIO Randy "used car saleman" Gustafson. This guy is corrupt as they come, I've been told he also carries a badge and gun at work with no police training what so ever.

Bostrom's secretary has whiskey plates driving in and out of Sheriff's office, geez what a great public image. Nice character based hiring Bostrom.

We are still looking at the former Sheriff. Sheriff Bostrom has a clean slate with us.
You know the Deputy took his life over issues stemming from his anger over the former Sheriff and the treatment he received by what was once called, Bobbies Boys.
It appears your anger over the loss has grown.
Get over it, Ramsey County loves their Sheriff and Bobby Boy was the only Sheriff in the history of Ramsey County to lose a Federal case brought on by his Deputies.
Which by the way cost the tax payers millions of dollars.
Not everyone loves the current Sheriff Bostrom, actually 70,000 people are against him, as well as many of his current employees who once supported him but now see him for what he truly is, a vindictive leader who hires only his cronies

Anybody can sue.
It takes facts to win like the Lt's did against your boy bobby.
You know, the guy that had 6 domestic calls made by Linda?
Yeah, that bobby!
You are correct anybody can sue, kind of like the poor guy who recently had his cam recorder unlawfully taken by Bostrom's deputies, then they deleted the evidence, I'm guessing a huge lawsuit coming and big payday in the millions. Any time someones civil rights are violated and the ACLU hands over an attorney its never good, its usually how much to money will make this go away, we shall see

I wouldn't doubt if that was setup, I could see Fletcher putting that kid up to it hoping the deputy illegally takes his property.

Just like ole Bobby used his SPPD federation ties and their union lawyers to sue Bostrom in federal court, with those last minute deputy hires he did on his way out. It was the setup from the beginning, they take the fall, get dragged thru the mud and will likely get something out of it. Wake up Bostrom folks, Fletcher is making you out to look like fools and you are being played

What? No background check or drug testing on a new hire? Oh, that's right, he was hired for his "good character"! Gotta love that "Character based" hiring that Bostrom promised during his campaign! Ha ha ha!

(Star Tribune)
"On Sept. 24, an inmate was getting out of jail and Adams was supposed to return $3,044 in cash the man was carrying when arrested. The jail does not return cash; it gives debit cards.

The released inmate returned the next day, saying there was no money on the card.

The complaint states that Adams admitted to switching the debit card with the $3,044 balance for another card with a zero balance. Adams told investigators that he had a problem with controlled substances and that he abuses prescription pain medication."

I have worked with Fletcher now for the past two years, he was my watch Commander for a while and he's now assigned to a different unit. He was the best Watch Commander SPPD has had in a long, long time, he knows how to get the job done. Yeah I heard the stories about Fletcher when he was the Sheriff, but once I worked for him my opinion of him has changed for the better, hes been around a long time and he worked his way up to the top, go ahead and ask any patrol cop at SPPD, Fletcher gets the nod over any admin personnel any day. I just wish I had known him when he was Sheriff

Forgive me for not being computer literate but the easiest way to reply to members of the Ramesy County Deputy Sheriff LELS was to reply to a previous e-mail with everyones name on it. I want to point out that I was never active in the Teamsters Local 320 because I did not agree with the way they ran things. Now with a fresh start with LELS I hope that we can all get active and voice our opinions In regards to Wayne Ruffcorns letter to the editor in the Sunday edition of the St Paul Pioneer Press (07/23/06) I wanted to point out a few things. For those of you that did not see the letter, it outlined the offensive way that members of the Ramsey County Deputy Association were portraying themselves as a major law enforcement organization. During the 1st meeting, which I did attend, the members present did acknowledge that this association was legal. My feeling is that if everyone would have been notified of the first meeting and the full agenda, an endorsement, or a move to endorse may have been made. Instead, the issue was thrown out to the 14 members and quickly voted on which was neither fair, nor did it reflect the true opinions of the 189 Deputies. In fact the general consensus at that time was not to get our union involved politically at all. In my opinion, this letter involves the union politically and I would ask that no further letters be written about the election which is why I chose the e-mail system. I would also like to note that no one has mislead the St Paul Police Federation into endorsing Sheriff Fletcher. The St Paul Police Federation endorsed Sheriff Fletcher back on November 1st of 2005. Nowhere in their press release does it name the Sheriff's Association as a factor in their decision. As far as misleading the public with the Deputy endorsement on the signs, I cant comment on them because I have not seen them. I am glad that we now can openly voice our opinions and participate freely. We need to ensure that our 189 member department is represented accurately and I encourage EVERYONE to attend meetings. There is no reason why 14 people should be the voice piece for 189. Thanks for listening, Deputy Kevin Navara.

In response to the requests for information on the Sheriff candidates, I submit
the following.

Sheriff Bob Fletcher is probably the hardest working, effective, and ethical
law enforcement manager I have had the privilege to work with during my 37 plus
years of police service. His management style has always been to recognize the
importance of working through his employees to get the job done. He is known
for his ability to obtain resources and then give his employees the authority
to use those resources, as needed, to accomplish positive results for the
Ramsey County Sheriff's Department.

I first met Sheriff Fletcher when he was a hard working patrol officer working
for the Saint Paul Police Department. I followed his career, as he became a
productive sergeant investigator who actually worked on criminal cases and
brought charges against people involved in criminal activity. He later became
a lieutenant supervising other working police officers.

I developed a true appreciation for Sheriff Fletcher's abilities when I became
the Statewide Commander for the Minnesota Gang Strike Force in 1997. He had
been working with the legislature for some time, along with other original
architects of the MGSF; to create a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement entity
to deal with the increasing gang problems that were occuring that created havoc
and often death in the lives of many good citizens in the state of Minnesota.

Sheriff Fletcher served as the Chairman of the Oversight Council, who we
reported to, during most of the last eight years we have been in existence.
Under his guidance, the Strike Force was created to identify, investigate,
arrest and prosecute gang members engaged in criminal activity in the State of
Minnesota. It has proven to be an extremely successful endeavor. We have
averaged over 700 arrests of gang members, involved in criminal activity, each
year. We have been recognized nationally for this work and have been the model
for the start of other gang units throughout the country.

When we lost our funding in 2003, Sheriff Fletcher worked tirelessly lobbying
and looking at new opportunities and approaches that allowed us to stay in
business and serve the citizens of the county and the state. This man
accomplished all this but still remains dedicated, as the hard working Sheriff
of Ramsey County. Sheriff Fletcher continues to be effective at the
legislature lobbying for issues that benefit the citizens of Rmasey County. He
also volunteers in his community on issues such as literacy programs and
others. Sheriff Fletcher does all this but remains a positive role model as a
father. His family always remains foremost in his every day life.

This is the man I want to continue to be my Sheriff in the County of Ramsey.

Anyone hear from Grace Kelly lately? She sure has been awful quiet lately, I recall how much Grace used to tout the St. Paul Police Dept.and how great Bostrom was, my how the tides have turned!

Rumor has it, Grace is pretty upset over the Ram Co Deputy who illegally seized a citizens camera and violated his civil rights. Shes also not happy about those deputies who roughed up that poor 65yr old man over taking samples from cub foods.

Bostrom's deputies sure have cost the tax payers large sums of money over the last couple of years with all his lawsuits against him!!

p.s. Who could forget Bostrom's neighbor & family friend he hired to work in the jail property room and stole thousands of dollars from inmates!
