OK, so I did some asking around and walked up and down the western side of street (Tune Street to Carr Hardware). Apparently the trees have grown to big and are constantly splintering, dropping limbs, and getting strangled by the relatively small space the trunks are in. I can accept that. The sidewalks, especially along the curbs, are crumbling and work has to be done.
But - I don't know why this can't be done on a smaller scale? Surely a good tree firm and a local concrete contractor can do the work without spending 400000 on designs alone. Take a look at the sidewalk up Castle Street past the front entrance of the Mahaiwe - whoever did that should be hired to fix the sidewalks on both sides of Main Street - and what about RR Street?

Do we as taxpayers have anything to say about this? Because I will go door to door to find out. And my guess is that no one wants those trees to go. So WHO is running this town? Who?
There was a vote at the May Town Meeting to go through with the planning, it was supported overwhelmingly. Few of us were against it.

The fairgrounds is owned by a group that wants to develope the property, however they owe the town back taxes and have for quite awhile, they should go after that first.
Forget the back taxes and move on......think forward something that the goons of Pittsfield missed a long time ago...

Wish it were that easy, taking over property is an expensive and long process, remember the Log Home Site, it took over ten years to take that property over and at a very expensive costs.

The town should have let off track betting in there years ago and slowly developed it with restaurants, stores, etc.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aquarius

The more you want to control someone, or someone wants to control you, the more difficult life will be today. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so the last thing you should do now is to act as though you own this person, or tell them what to do, because it will be an instant recipe for rebellion and trouble. Mars is retro in your house of significant others and open enemies after all. If you don't want to spoil the evening's celebrations you'll have to make compromises, and hope that this other person will do the same. Don't let the fuss stop you having a very happy New Year's Eve.
