3 yrs ago, I spent $2750 on a rebuilt transmission at American on mayo road. 2 weeks after it was "fixed", it would not go into gear at times, and it slipped gears every so often. today, 3 yrs later, the trans was never fixed completely and right. I'm screwed, out $2750 dollars. numerous times I took it back and they "fixed" it. but it stayed broke. lots of BS and excuses... the entire ordeal with this company was a nightmare... use this place at your own risk! after a few years and many tries, I stopped going here. It became obvious they were NOT going to fix this transmission.
now on 8.15.2012, the trans is slipping and getting worse. The dealer just replaced the entire unit at a cost to me of $3700. Dealer says it's mechanical. American swears its electrical (in other words, out of their hands, not their problem) I read between the lines the FIRST time they said this.
long story short, Avoid American Transmission. The people are nice, I have no beef with the owner or employees. MY ISSUE is spending so much money for a job that was NEVER done right.
I think the owner, Dave should do the right thing and refund my money. Step up and do the RIGHT thing.
they keep deleting my review here, but that's ok. I'll keep adding it again. I want everyone to know how this business screwed me out of $2750 bucks.
This company is dishonest. What else can I say?
use them at YOUR own risk.

update. 1.30.2013. cant delete my reviews here so I'm updating...
attorney general office said after hearing the case that there is insufficient evidence that American did anything wrong.
I was unable to prove they did not fix my transmission correctly..
case closed.
