I worked there 40 years ago. Made $5 per hr with full medical benefits. Gas was 35 cents a gallon.
Now they make minimum wage, no insurance and gas is $4 a gallon. Would like to turn the clock back more that just an hour.

well I have no doubt the west side iga has donated to the community but u can rest assured there was a motive behind it , cause the owners wouldn't just do a random act of kindness if it wasn't going to benefit them
There employees that have worked there for years and have not seen the first raise so don't let the piddly donations they've done fool u there is a method to the madness
I really don't care what the reason they donate to our area's school, sports, Boy Scouts, etc. But I have asked for donations for all of these. They never turned me down. They donated food, paper products AND money. We need more people like this. Thank you West Side IGA. I love ya!

Yeah. The paper products and money did too. You should do more work in donations. Might change your attitude.

Ive done more to help people without then u will ever do in the rest of ur life and the difference between my generosity and the owners of westside iga is u dont see me on the front page of the paper for doing it trust me i know for a fact the only reason they do things is for there own personal gaine so ppl like u get all warm and fuzzy inside but when the store is bought out in january and the new owner comes in u will see what taking care of your community is all about

How could you possibly know that you have done more with helping people than they have done for the rest of their life? You don't know them. So pat yourself on the back. I sure won't do it, especially with a broad statement like that.

That's great. Wish I could afford to do that. Unfortunately most of us can not afford to do that. But those who cannot and just can do what they can does nor demean the good works that they do. It really doesn't make you a better person than those who work hard to do what they can. Also it does not make you any better than them. To brag that you have done more than anyone else can do for the rest of their life, well, that is just bragging.
