I thought about this article... and thought about it... I see no negative to her resigning. Go straight to your island and don't let us hear from you again. Oops! Did I say straight? So sorry!

Let me guess, she could not take it and quit, so no we will have to hear it was because she was a lesbian and was not treated how she wanted to be treated right? Same old song and dance. Wouldn't it be nice if people were actually responsible for their own actions.

Could be, or maybe graduating from Yale was what she wanted to do instead. Yale doesn't ask for a five year commitment after graduation. Maybe she's telling it like it is but it does sound rather convenient as she has already been accepted to attend Yale.

Do these morons do this just for the publicity? I hate how people try to use the military as a social experiment.

She was ranked 9th out 1100 in her class = top 1%. Can't hack it--right. I would guess that she did not expect the level of idiot behavior that she encountered, so instead of committing the next 7 years of her life to that churlishness, she made the responsible decision and transferred. As far as "morons" go, probably the knuckleheads who were making the homophobic comments qualify best. Why don't you try walking around in the real world and experience the social experiment of life for yourself. It ain't that scary.

Agreed. I'm a military academy grad. This chick is obviously no slouch. Sounds like she is taking this to heart and making a true moral decision. I'll give her credit for that. We need alot more officers like her.

Good Riddance...

One of the best ways to destroy a nation is enforce some sort of bizarre political correctness on its military. Especially, the things invented by politicians who hate the military anyway.

Miltiary service is denegrated in schools.

ER no,
And I'll bet that a) you graduated after 1950 when "hazing" was elimiated and b) that you've got a nice government job, probably in law enforcement, where you don't have to work much at all.

Dear Citizens,

Is this the really President Clinton's policy ---Don't ask and Don't Tell---is that what he had for Ron Brown too before he was driven into a Hill Side [sound familiar]!

Don't ask and Don't Tell---has been Torrance's motto for years

Alpine's is Keep it to yourself or else!

So what has changed in our Free America were the American worker cannot make a move?

The Middle Class is told to shut-up.

And the Elite are told if you want your "position" stick to the "script"!

And our Super Rich took all their moneys to China in late 2007 [Buffett last to go].

"Katherine Miller of Findlay, Ohio, also said she wants to fight for repeal of the 'don't ask, don't tell' law, a subject she was studying and writing about as a sociology major at West Point."---another Buckeye dragged down!

Sincerely,

It's OK to fight, get wounded or die fighting for America, as long as you don't tell anyone that you are gay or lesbian.

It's also OK to be a 5 time Draft Dodger during war time, saying you had "more important things to do" instead of going to Viet Nam. Then you can be known as a Conservative, Pro Military, Great Republican, Great American, Vice president of the United States of America, the same country you fought, not to fight for.

We do not need more officers like her. She was never an officer, she was a cadet who quit. How sexist of you to refer to her as a chick. Which military academy did you graduate from ? I wonder how much money the United States spent training, housing and feeding this woman.

Hey bubba, did she not expect to be taunted in the military? I mean did she go through her whole life not being taunted for being gay? We used to call straight people gay all the time in the military and while in high school and continue to do it in college. Your right its not that scary, deal with it and dont quit in the face of adversity. Im glad MLK didnt have this girls backbone and im glad I didnt have to go into combat with a girl so weak!!

Look what Jackie Robinson went through to play in the MLB. He had heart and a lot of it. Some people have it and some people do not. She was not being personnally harassed but was sensitive to what people were saying about her preferences. I think her goals changed and she bailed out.

And even if you DO serve your country in the military, your political opponents will hire actors to say you didn't.
