Obama orders escalation, and then withdrawal

Declaring "our security is at stake," President Barack Obama ordered an additional 30,000 U.S. troops into the long war in Afghanistan Tuesday night.

I guess Obama knows more about military strategy than General McChrystal. McChrystal asked for 40,000 more troops but Obama only authorizes 34,000. McChrystal didn't set a deadline but Obama says 18 months. What military experience does our commander in chief have? Did he graduate from West Point (like the general)? Did he serve in special forces (like the general)? I could go on citing the general's resume but what's the point?
You fight a war to win. You don't fight a war with politically driven limitations or restrictions. That was what caused our failure in Vietnam.

Injecting more troops into Afganistan is a move that needwed to be done. Should the Taliban get complete control of that country, they then would have a much larger base to operate from to help bring down the USA. Have we forgotten 9-11? What don't people understand about outsiders who want desperatly to bring down the USA?

To please the ney sayers, must we ignor defense stratagies and just wait to be taken by a foreign power? Heck, any good Boy-Scout knows the need for offensive maneuvers. I believe it is known as "Survival of the Fittest" and we (The USA) can only survive if we are infact the fittest.

President Obama certainly did not make this decision alone. Many intelligent minds weighed in on this decision. We MUST WIN this war, and if we miscalculate this matter, look for BIG changes in our way of life as we know it today.

As another poster had pointed out-its amazing how his main plan is to pull out in time for re-election. All obama is doing-and HAS DONE-is run for the 2012 election. There is nothing else on his agenda! Economy? Nah-its bullshit-I dont care I just need to kill time and then pull off a few amazing feats at the END of the term!
