You decide how Denver should cut its budget

Full story: 9NEWS

If you like truly green lush parks in Denver, you probably won't like the idea of cutting back on the amount of watering taking place at the city's numerous parks.

Denver supports and houses a large number of homeless, many who are quite capable of performing large or small tasks. These people should be put to work without pay, under supervision, in exchange for living on the streets and shelters. Examples: removing trash from the Platte River banks, after city events like Taste of Colorado and Democratic National Convention, removing graffiti, etc.

Isn't that funny?...When my son and I were facing homelessness in Denver, NOBODY would do shit for us...I was told the ONLY option I had was for me to go to a shelter, and my son would have to go to a different one because he was over the age of 10...Fortunately, we were able to come to CA and stay with family (even though I despise this state)...
This was only 4 years ago, but the problem we had remains...We are white...

In 1972, at the tender age of 15, a friend of mine was dropped off at Larimer Square and left to fend for himself. He called me when I was living back east. I asked Mom & Dad for the car. They said no. Then I asked them if they would take me to the airport nearest to where I was living. They asked why. I told them. They took me to the airport which was 60 miles away. Mom told him to get to Stapleton Airport as fast as he could because a plane ticket with his name on it was there. He got there. Jumped on the United Airlines DC-8 and headed east. He has been doing very well ever since. You see, that scared little boy was is my cousin. Much older now. He has a personal beef with any parents that shirks their responsibilities to their children. He has been instrumental in putting abusive parents in prison for a very long time. I am very proud of him. Hundreds of children (now adults) are grateful to him. And every year, they have a big get-together to celebrate his accomplishments. Last year, there was over 700 people. This years get-together, which was yesterday, there was well over 1,000. He was there for those kids, because my Mom & Dad was there for him. Now that's a heluva difference that two people made over 37 years ago. All it takes is one person to say "Yes, I'll help."

I applaud your cousin for all he's accomplished...However, it does nothing to change the fact that many families will be turned away in favor of "minorities", which is something that should definitely be addressed...As a single, WHITE, mom, I've been shut down many, many times when it came to getting any kind of assistance...I've literally been on the Section 8 waiting list since 2001, yet watched as ILLEGALS were suddenly given their vouchers in as little as two weeks...No explanation needed here, I get it...When I worked for San Bernardino County TAD (welfare) it was painfully obvious what was/IS going on...Our government (especially now, with Obama at the helm) firmly believes that "whites" still have it easier than any other race...Tell me, in todays society, how that's even possible?...We don't have "minority" status to assist us in getting jobs/education/assistance, we aren't ignorant enough to pop out 15 kids that come with a government pay raise (increased welfare), and we certainly aren't sending billions of dollars to another country every year...
And yes, Obama repealed Welfare Reform, meaning the programs will go back to where they were in the '80's...Generations will rely on it, nobody will be working to contribute to it (no more "Welfare-to-Work")an d nobody gives a shit...Then, once Obama has them addicted to his little plan, the rug will be pulled out from under them, and watch how drastically the homeless population increases...
Scary...But I didn't vote him in...

I'm sorry for your hardship, but not far from you is the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There's gold in those hills. I know that it won't be easy. But the more gold you find, the easier life will be for you. Study up. There's lots of information right here on the internet. When you find something, say nothing about where you find it to anyone. There will be more gold for you. And you prevent a gold rush. Remember that silence is golden and a lack of memory is convenient.

Too late...It's already being plundered by the locals...
I will be out of this state come September, and it's not a moment too soon...Really, it's sad to see how California is bottoming out...The greed, excess, and general "It's all about me" attitude has caught up with them...Top that off with the state literally catering to ILLEGALS, and it's no wonder CA is broke...
Right now, I'm living on disability (that I paid for) and will likely end up back on unemployment (something else I paid for) when my knee issues are resolved...However, that doesn't do much when we have the highest unemployment rate in the nation, and the highest housing costs...
This state got exactly what it had coming, and I only hope that other states take a hard look at what's happening here, and do the exact opposite...

It's never too late. And there's too much gold up there to ignore, and plenty for everyone. All it takes is dedication and sticktuitiveness(stick too it tive ness) And there's plenty to be made between now and September. You might be able to pluck up enough to buy a house, or at least to set down a substantial down payment. I went after some gold in 2001 in the Sierra Nevada mtns. I knew that the price of gold was going to skyrocket. I waited to pounce on it. Then in late 2007, I cashed it in. Had enough to buy a house outright, but I saw the trends of the economy begin to falter and wanted to wait, so I did. That $300,000 house was mine for less than $80,000. Prepare now, while you still can. You'll regret not going once you get back to CO.
I wasn't very fond of CA politics, but we're talking about your future. Check your politics at the door b4 you go. I did. And it works.

Oh god.
That figures.
Their favoring minorities over whites in section 8. Figures. This is an example of the REALITY that this bull crap, that things have shifted and now reverse racism is encouraged and practiced, to the point whites are stepped on repeatedly.
Hear about the New Haven CT firefighters who sued and won for reverse racism because they passed a test for promotions but were told, "You be white, so we can't promote you though you scored so well."? This firefighter case is another example of what's been going on.
One time when I was poorer (I'm white too), me and my family went to a food bak to get food help (here in Denver). I couldn't help but notice they gave us nearly zero yet the black lady right after us got tons of good food, including an entire bag of Lays potato chips. Clearly we knew we were treated to "little food" because we were white and this was a black run food bank.
Same thing happened recently to a neighbor of mine. He was out of work and went to a black run food bank and was told bold faced, "We don't give food to whites. You all have enough". IF he "had enough", how come he was starving?
Let me tell you, all whites who have noticed this need to stand up, contact the media, hold protest rallies, and scream for our rights as equals. This crap has come far enough. Instead of minorities getting to the "same level of rights" as whites, they're now thinking they're SUPERIOR.
Take the last presidential campaign for example. Anyone who disagreed with Obamas opinions was called a "racist" because the idea was "Because he's black, he's fault free - and if you can't recognize him being superior to whites, then you're a racist". Nice tool of manipulation calling people a "racist"...real nice...and a LIE. We just didn't like being told someone is "superior" because they're a "minority". This happened because this attitude has been pushed for some time and we're also seeing this elsewhere, like you have with section 8. Sickening is all I can say...these people are what I've been calling black and brown KKK - they wear brown or black hoods at home and carry their own version of KKK membership cards.
Frankly these people are "extremists" and should by put on the Homeland Security Watch List.
Btw, stand up for your rights. File a discrimination complaint with the state for being denied housing through section 8 because of being white. Seriously, the more we all complain when these things happen, the sooner it will stop. And anyone else reading this who has the same issue with section 8, do the SAME THING - everyone filing discrimination complaints will put the pressure on these racists and make it stop.

You just posted and saw WHAT she said, which was "Just 4 years ago". So HOW does "4 years ago" and posting NOW with a computer lead you this remark?

Plus, as I said, IF she had computer use 4 years ago, it was thanks to a free one at the local public library. TWIT.

Thanks for clarifying, but I indeed had a computer when I was facing homelessness...However, what "genius-boy-wonder" didn't ask was, "Did we actually become homeless?"...I'll answer, no we didn't...My son and I put our belongings in storage (that I've paid for for the past 4 years) and came to CA where I have family...
What I think the idiot misunderstood was what I said about the problem remaining...That problem is, we are white...And nobody gives a shit about whitey...

If you were unable to resolve yesterday's difficulties they'll be even more pronounced today a Mars turns retro in your sign. Get everything out in the open so you can discuss it, otherwise you run the risk of harbouring resentments and grudges that will emerge further down the line. Be prepared to hear some home truths and also to deliver a few of your own. But be fair!
