We cant have a steak and shake, lowes, home depot but we can have another motel not to mention cid tax is involved what a joke. where is our cid tax money at work in front of jc pennys some gravel Ha Ha what a joke. Does anyone notice we lost sleep mart, papa murphys i heard it was because of their rent being so high like $4000 plus a month how does west plains think we will gain more businesses with that kind of rent being charged?? The city wonders why people go out of town to shop well stop and think about it, we could of had a hobby lobby but they passed us by and went on to mountain home because the southern hills shopping center looked run down si I ask again where is the cid tax money going? gravel doesnt cost that much! People are tired of paying it if you all only knew how much they were generating off that a month you would never spend a dime in those stores again.

$400? Uh...that would be pretty sad if a business couldn't come up with only $400 per month for rent. I'd be really surprised if the rent is only $400. That's less than most people pay per month for an apartment down here.

This issue has been talked to death already. Alot of the potential new stores have access requirements. Hence WP and MoDot are making improvements to 63 and a road behind Wal Mart to appease these businesses. Any new stores that open in WP will have a CID tax associated with them. So everyone needs to either get over the CID tax or keep going to Mtn Home, Springfield, and Branson to shop and blindly pay those towns more tax (including CID taxes) than you would pay in WP. The issue with the parking lot was already addressed by Travis Smith himself a few months ago when someone was yet again moaning about the CID money. His response was what people with common sense already know... you can't pour asphalt or concrete in the winter.

And I would like to add that Sleep Mart and Papa Murphy would have went out of business regardless of the rent charged. Who wants to buy a pizza and take it home and cook it? Especially when that pizza cost more than a ready made pizza. A person may do that once or twice but no one is going to do that on a regular basis. Sleep Mart specialized in mattresses. A product that isn't frequently replaced and is also offered at Big Lots and the numerous furniture stores in this area.

people are gunna cry about something,,,west plains cant grow much bigger,,,the electric grid,,,the sewer grid wont allow it,,,the cid tax is bullshit,,,if you want to open a buisness thats your risk,,,it shouldnt be put on the shoppers,,,this town is still trying to follow smoke through the sewer pipes to find the breaks in the pipes we already have,,,the electric power flickers off and on in diffrent areas of town on a sunny day all the time,,,our children are trapped when the train stops,,,bigfoot was sighted just to the north,,,not enough emergency equipment or people to handle two emergency at once,,,half the town flooded from a creek a few yrs ago,,,you see,,,people are gunna cry about something,,,and if anyone holds their breath until this town gets new big chain buisnesses they will turn blue and pass out,,,so dont hold your breath

They need to fix the Parking Lot in front of Jc Penny. Southern Hills is not kept up very well. It looks like a dump.

Nothing is going to change the same few people control the town and they don't want you to have choices. No need to fix anything, that costs money, and they don't want to spend it on anything but themselves. Meanwhile they tax you to pay for their improvements when or if they do make any. Their attitude is residents can sit there and suck on it, you mean nothing to them.

no actually they were planning on staying until their rent was raised to a ridiculous amount so now to get a good mattress we the people will have to travel to springfield Mt home etc.... but on the upside we can go to hobby lobby that was looking in to going in here but didn't like the way southern hills shopping center looked so on down the road they went to Mt home.

what happened to last summer all they did is patch it in certain places they get enough money off the Cid tax to fix it right. There is a lot of other places of business in this town and they have to fix their own parking lot and their rent isn't near as high as what those places pay.you would be surprised at what they get a month for that I watched them just patch a few places just as little as they can do to get by.

The town is never going to grow until we get rid of these greedy lying republicans running the place. Look at how easy these city council members recently got over on residents with this electric hike (just one small example).

They played on everybody's "Obama hate" by saying the EPA was going to cause prices to go up with new pollution regulations that have NOT even been implemented and most likely NEVER WILL. They just stole money from everyone and no one even questioned it.{well one council member that voted NO!} Come on these plants make billions of dollars a year and can not spend a couple of million to clean up there air pollution? I call BS surly people are not buying into this nonsense. Just a bunch of greedy republicans playing on the ignorance of a bunch of dumb hillbillies. YOU HAD BETTER WAKE UP AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND YOU.
