West Plains is known for it's fine dinning. If we're REALLY lucky, maybe we'll get a Chuck E. Cheese too.

You have to be joking, the closest thing to fine dining in West Plains is Ruby Tuesday's that is the only thing I don't like about this area, there is really no nice reasurant if you want to go our for a special occassion. We tried Cafe 37 when we first moved here and for what you got it was very high priced and if the food were really good it might be worth it but I didn't think it was all that great for the high price you pay.

I heard that they may relocate Ramey's, Factory Connection, Family Dollar, and Pizza Hut after the Hospital buys out Parkway Shopping Center in 2013. I also heard that Target, Home Depot, Kohl's, Petco, Office Depot, Hastings, Golden Corral, Chili's, Denny's, and a 16-screen cinema with video arcade may reside in Bear Valley.
Where Skateland once was i heard that it will be anchored by Lowe's, Office Depot, Applebee's, Petsmart, Vintage Stock, and Starbucks might be a possibility. I could be wrong.

BearValley...Really...Do people on here seriously believe all the things you are read? The Board of Governors is not allowing 75% of the mention establishments into this area. For one, an Olive Garden and Hooters must have a minimum population of 50,000 for THEM to even consider coming into a city to meet minimum revenue. WOW, people. I am not assuming, I have tried to convince the city leaders to bring both those places here, along with an Applebees. The city nor the CHAINS themselves, believe that there is enough population to maintain costs.

Well no wonder noone will want to come to West Plains, if the city council wants to keep restaurants and big-box retail out of West Plains, then people will start leaving and no one will want to live in West Plains.

City council has very little to do with restaurant building here.... it's 99% demographics & 1% politics. This area will always be a small town, until manufacturers that actually PRODUCE A PRODUCT decide to locate here. That will be when Missouri votes to become a "right to work" state. Until that happens, they will build new factories in other less liberal labor law states. Vote out McCaskill and Jay Nixon, it will start the process. Retail will follow manufacturing, ALWAYS has, ALWAYS WILL !!!

Very well said. I have to agree with most of this statement.
