My grandma lived there in the 70's. I liked it when we would come down to see her. What is West Plains like now? How are the people? Who's running the town now?

Full of metH and other drugs... A new store pops open selling that synthetic pot that makes people go nuts and end up in the er. there are no good restraunts, nothing to do, town is run by the group of the richest turds, school is subpar, if your single and of either sex good luck as every guy is a dead beat dad and every skank woman has 5 kids and usually the oldest is on 13 years younger than the mom. NO JOBS... oh sure you can make minimum wage every place but unless your in the medical field your joing the class of the working poor.. BAD TEETH!!!!, COULD GO ON AND ON BUT IN SHORT THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE TO LIVE. Dont come if you have yet to make a decision and if your here already most will say they would get out if they could

West Plains is very low crime. We have the occasional pickpocket and sodomy sneak attacks, but that's about it. The weather is mild year round and people are nice. Medium paying jobs are plentiful if you have at least a high school education. We are also close to sparkling clear rivers and lakes. Come and join us. We welcome you with open arms.

Lmao! Beautiful country yes but, no good paying jobs unless u kill ur self at a factory. Then get ready to work 7 days a week and more. Drunks, druggies, users and liars are every where. Born and raised there so glad i am gone. Nice to visit and that is it.

West Plains is your typical small town. Good 'ol boysville. If you're Retired, Independently Wealthy, or you have income from an Outside Source then you'll be fine. Cheap land, taxes, etc.

Also helps if you're Baptist.

Educated people -- not really. Right-wing, religious conservatives,(some may consider extream) mostly white. Most jobs Min. wage unless you work for a school, Hospital or large corporation.

Hope this helps.

like all small towns in the bible belt. mostly whites. a large portion of good ole boys. family connections get you everywhere. low amount of industry. high amount of meth and a police force who just don't care. large pill trade in town ignored by the cops. poor city leaders. dying town.(it will take fifty years, but this town will be gone)

theres a CID and new church on every corner that is progress they put in the small business incubator and there isnt anything in it what are they going to do with it. air evac supposedly isnt leaving...yeah right...you know they are. regal beloit is leaving in three years for mexico and wisconson armstrong is running out of wood and will be closing the local plant. the shoe factory is now apartments for students but they forgot to take out the abestos and are keeping it quiet. drs is losing contracts with the end of the war on terror cuz obama doesnt want to kill sandnigers like himself people will stop drinking coca cola its bad for your health and that will close but everyone in southern missouri smokes so cigarettes will stay. caterpillar is moving to eastern iowa to be closer to their headquarters. pills are going to become harder to get or easier when obamacare hits, but there will be fewer small pharmacies and walmart and walgreens are cracking down...another business gone. every guy is a deadbeat dad that never gets sent to jail cuz his 10 kids are by differnt crackwhores and keeps on stealing and slinging meth and every single woman does come with 5 kids from the time she was 13. they give rubbers out at health clinic but noperson uses them cuz that would cost them their k2 money. there are more churches opening so there is some good news.
and there is your evidence about the level of insane racism in this crazy town

Well, there are a few of us that CHOSE to move here! We like the small town atmosphere, country living, and hospitality. If you don't like it here, then move!!! It will make it better for the rest of us. I know I am probably starting a big arguement, but I am entitled to my own opinion. Thank you, and have a great life!!!
