Arrived at 5:20 pm the line was so long, came back home. Hopefully ALL those people aren't standing outside in the rain with their babies....

I agree, it probably isn't worth waiting in the rain for a bag of sweets that are unhealthy anyway.

However, rain does not cause one to become ill, nor does the color weather. These are just factors that help in the process of things the one already has living on them developing into something more, by allowing germs and things on the skin to spread faster etc. Or children being left in clothing for an extended period of time allowing such to grow and develop after. If it was caused from the weather, we would all be sick every time it rained of such for the most part. Odds are if a kid gets sick after being in the rain, it is because they were already exposed to such a condition and the parent did not know of the contamination since you can't see germs etc, or the parent is neglectful which is probably not the case and if so, that rain is the least of the worries.

Shouldn't the real question be, why don't we have a better plan as a community for this incase of weather conditions. Why aren't the people allowed in the civic center to hand out all candy at this point?! Community pays for it?! It is big enough to allow tons in.

The kids have been looking forward to it, it isn't their fault it rained. I understand it isn't worth it, but don't judge someone for letting their kid get wet, because they don't want to upset them on an emotional level, which does more damage in the long run regardless what it is over than a common cold.

Don't be mad at the parents, ask the community, if it was to help keep kids safer, why not let them in instead of out in the rain?!

Don't judge the parents who let the kids wait after promises, or the parents who decided it isn't worth it, but fix the problem.

It's for the babies, not to point fingers. Next year you guys should complain for a back up plan just incase of the weather.:)

Personally isn't trunk or treat defeating it's own purpose, they have it supposedly so kids can trick or treat safely. Yet they have them all before the actually day of Halloween so many of them will most likely still be out on Halloween night anyway. Doesn't make much sense to me?

Sorry Bill but real adults do not care about halloween. Real children get abused so shame on you for adding to that by celebrating it. A family member of mine adopted a little girl from west plains. She was part of satan worship rituals. She is terrified of halloween. She told us that pumpkins mean she will be abused. Shame on all of you.

For the woman who watched the poor abused kid cry...:(

K! I apologize in advance to you if I upset you, because clearly you are upset since the little girl is. Understandable. But unless we are the ones who abused that little girl, NOT OUR FAULT. My kids love pumpkins because it reminds them of candy. If you are that upset, burn pumpkins in the a**holes' front yard who hurt that poor baby! They deserves far worse, but don't complain because my kids are getting joy from something, which may be based on a bad past, but they have no idea, and that isn't there fault. I to think we should do away with Halloween and a society (since it is kinda a little ..evil)and revamp others to be truth based and less greedy (not everyone please no one take it personal...I am American too/our nation is raised on greed via tv etc...), probably not all at once because more little kids would be sad instead of happy.

Bill was being sarcastic, the people who work and are supporting people on welfare who really don't do anything,(which not all don't)but some do, would NOT have to work their life away to pay for hospital bills cause of the ran. Kinda think he meant, everyone crying was kinda uncalled for, it's for the kids to have fun. I don't think he meant it personal...but maybe I am wrong.

I agree the idea behind it is wrong, but my babies don't know that yet. My household has done away with fake Santa, explained St. Nicolas and Jesus. We have destroyed the Easter bunny, hid fruit and taught the real story behind it, not a magic rabbit, and come thanksgiving, we are going to spend time being thankful and giving, and learning of what really happened between us and the natives.(Yes, we have celebrations for holidays, but they teach the truth, not fairytales. I want my kids to have fun...be happy....and I also want them to not become greedy, selfish, gullible etc...in my opinion *not attacking anyone sorry if I offend*)

Let me ask you though, what have you done to change things for the future of that child? BTW , really glad someone else has her besides who the **** did from the sounds of it. Glad too you care so much, it does show. Please though, don't shield her from Halloween because some stupid idiots hurt her. Work with her through it, help her move past it, explain them away and how she didn't deserve that life before. Keeping her hidden, as much as I know you and tons of others thanks it helps, it will leave her in fear.

Also, Halloween is the last holiday I have chosen to destroy, because all my kids think it is, is a reason to get candy and play dress up. Christmas they thought a magic man gave them stuff (nothing about why we have it). Easter they thought there was a massive talking bunny. Halloween may be the worse, right up there with Thanksgiving honestly, but they dunno that.

Any one have any creative and helpful ways to celebrate a different version on Halloween for a new start next year? I honestly think just having a different celebration, for a different reason on a different day, and having them dress up in something non violent would be a plus. Perhaps, I have a dream day, or something and allow them to dress like who they would like to be when they grow up to change the world? Doctors, Teachers etc? Any other ideas?!

I grew up with Christmas, Easter, and all of them, and I am thankful for it. My kids will grow up with them too. Just not in the same ways, with misinformation. Hope that baby has a great night tonight. Be sure to thank that family member of yours for making a difference!:)

*BTW....people she isn't nuts, she is upset, if you seen a little kid upset by things that normally would bring them joy, you would probably be too

It sucked. We waited in a a line for 2 hours and then at the end the kids just walked in a circle and had candy given to them. The candy part took less than 10 minutes.I also donated about 10 bags of candy to this and didn't see the brand I bought.Hmmmm

BTW,Brooke Haven Nursing Home had a really fun Halloween shindig this year. They had a cake walk, bounce house, games, hotdogs and treats! You didn't have to stand in line for 2 hours at any time, either.Plus the elderly people seemed to really enjoy it,too.
