How much do CNAs make

Ava, MO

#1 Aug 7, 2012
I work at Brooke Haven I love my job there and the people Not saying I would leave but I recently got told that they are not the highest paying for CNAs in the area I make 11.00 per hr on weekends Do any of the other nursing homes around here offer more for weekend shifts?
NHC? West View? Willow? Mt View? or others in the area? What is the starting pay for CNA's on weekends?
Just curious

If you are happy with your job now...why ask about the pay at other nursing homes? That will just make you unhappy if you find out the others pay more. I suggest leaving sleeping dogs lay.

That's a fairly decent wage for a CNA. From what I hear, they mostly make minimum wage and are expected to be harder working than any other profession in the medical field. I agree, if you like your job and the people you work with, you're better off to keep what you have. I would suggest only changing jobs because you have upgraded your qualifications and are entitled to more income. Otherwise be thankful you even have a job.

Can I get an intelligent response? I am trying to get information, not be told that I should just keep my job and be happy and not worrying about what other places around here pay. I never said I did or did not like the people I work with either. So stop assuming. That's not anyone's decision besides mine and I wasn't looking for advice on whether to stay or not cuz I don't need it. So I will ask again....

What do other places around here pay for weekend wages for CNAs?

Btw. I don't have to work this job. I do it cuz I want to. I am extremely overqualified for it. So keep your mouth shut about me being "lucky" to even have a job. I could have another with the snap of my fingers if I wanted. I do NOT want advice on what to do with my life ppl. That wasn't what I was asking, no offense. If you aren't going to answer the question then don't bother replying. Cuz everything unrelated is useless to me.

Your not overqualified in a CNA's position. Anyone can do this job. If your so overqualified then why wouldn't you know what that type of buisnass pays. I think your 'overqualified' is in your own mind. I have never worked as a CNA and could walk into your job site and do just as good as a job your doing with these older folks. Stop your Bitching and call these other job sites if your so 'overqualified'.

Speaking of jobs market, i am wondering where would be a good area (close of West Plains) to look for work? I vacationed there (Bryant Creek & White River was soooo awesome!) last week and i definitely want to explore maybe relocating (work permitting). I had no idea how peaceful & wonderful Missouri was (especially West Plains). Definitely a fan of Mizzou now too! TX is great and all but very hot and not as beautiful...

Well Behavior Health is on Kentucky Ave. This will be your first stop if you think what you post about being peaceful an wonderful. If you don't need that kind of Mental help now you will in no time if you move here. West Plains is no place to move to but to maybe visit every once in a while. Drunks Drugs and no real Law in the Court system down here. You will become a victom of a crime of some sorts and nothing will be done about it because the ones doing the crime to you is related to someone in charge. Read this local paper for a month or so and pay attention to the second page, then re-read the same names doing crimes but always being let go to do more crimes. They have to kill someone to be sent to prison around here. Then visit this area in the winter months when the shrubs die off and see what was being hid behind all the bushes that look so beautiful in the summer months. Wages are low, cost of living is high. Anywhere new you go visit looks so nice but stay a few weeks around here and see the real area. I will get flac from this post from a few but beleive me thier is alot more people out there who agree with me and the sad thing about that is you won't hear thier story until you waisted your money and time and have moved to this area.

Wow. Are you all idiots? I asked a simple question about how much places pay for CNAs in WP. I did not ask for your life advice. And you don't know me, so you have no idea what my qualifications are either. Can I get an answer that actually has to do with my question?

I know if your a CNA then your (in your own mind) more qualified and smarter and could do any nurses job SO much better than they can do it! LOL! Anyway, you do have to work hard and get paid less. GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND STOP GRIPING! No one is listening to your whining if your not willing to change it! CNAs make around $7.00 hr weekdays and weekends $10.00. Consider yourself lucky!

Top 10 Best Paying States for CNAs

State Salary (hourly)
1. Alaska $14.36
2. New York $13.63
3. Connecticut $13.54
4. Massachusetts $12.77
5. Hawaii $12.53
6. District of Columbia $12.47
7. Maryland $12.47
8. Delaware $12.32
9. New Hampshire $12.24
10. Nevada $12.23

to get specific top wage scales from places you all most got to call there human resources office and ask but bottom line you live in a republican ran county and they keep wages low so dont get your hopes up. Given that shlt state of wages around here you might want to weigh job satisfaction ahead of money and pick up a part time job instead (suck i know). I am really surprised that healthcare workers have not wised up to unionizing around here.

Any chance we can get you to relocate to Alaska? Topix members could pool their money and arrange a nice incentive package for you.

Do you know any medical terminology?? Do you have very patient compassion??? Are you able to deal with watching death regularly??? Real easy huh??
