you can also contact the chamber of commerce, every year they work with organizations in the communtiy and will provide you with information on families to help out for christmas gifts and food.
it is a great feeling to know you have helped.

There are lots of organizations out there but I just dont want to give money. I want it to be someone in the Ozarks etc. Any ideas, shout em out.

I think giving to a Family or a Group of Kids for Thanksgiving and Christmas is a fine thing. I live in a Military Community and each Thanksgiving, we Invite Several Military who is not going home for Thanksgiving over. I love seeing the Kids at the Mission receiving their Gifts, who would not otherwise have anything. God Bless them1

Go to Family Services. They have a lot of foster children that are in need. If you go there to donate, they are having a Christmas party for the children soon. They would GREATLY appreciate it!

Yeah I also don't want to give money or go through the chamber.I feel that it will be my responsibality to make sure the kids get exactly what I got for them and not tossed around. It's always a plus to get aquainted personally. You never know when that family could call you and ask for something that you could help them with in the future.

You can deliver the gifts yourself if you go through the Chamber. Most groups go through them and make deliveries themselves.

If you have children (grandchildren or family), talk to the principal in your school district. We have been involved like this for some time and get great rewards from helping (anonymously) people that our children go to school.with! Whatever you do decide to do... God bless you for your generosity and for making the holidays a little brighter for these children!

You can give to the battered women and children in town. Or to Family Services. There are SO many children in foster care. When they go into care, they have nothing and are not able to go to their home to get their things...if they even own anything. Those children are traumatized dramatically and have nothing...

Family Services don't only help the foster childen, they work with all the needy families in the community. Lots of parents can't afford gifts for the kids, call the Family Support Division and you can adopt a family or children.

Contact Am Vets Post 98. They have a "Toys for Tots" program every year as well as food baskets for families during the holidays.

The Children's Division accepts gifts each year for children in foster care. The teenagers tend to lose out. People dont tend to give stuff teenagers like. The also help out low income families if they get enough donations. The West Police Department does Shop With a Cop that let kids pick out their own present. Probably see some of the people that complain about the police there with their children.
