Trey Gowdy Interrogates Democrat-Invited Law Prof on IRS Scandal — Watch What Happens When the Witness Doesn’t Answer His Questions
~ This Man Should Be Our President!!!!!
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) grilled a University of Baltimore law professor during a Wednesday House hearing and made a compelling case as to why a special counsel is needed to investigate the IRS scandal. At one point, he even offered the professor some “free litigation advice” when he refused to answer one of his questions that seemed pretty straightforward.
Professor Charles Tiefer was brought in by Democrats as an expert to help determine whether the House Judiciary Committee should appoint a special counsel to investigate the IRS scandal. Tiefer, who previously served as solicitor and deputy general counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives, was also recently asked by Democrats to provide a statement on House Speaker John Boehner’s lawsuit against President Obama, which he called an “embarrassing loser.”
“Professor Tiefer, would you seat a juror who referred to your client as an obscene body part?” Gowdy asked, clearly referring to emails that show ex-IRS official Lois Lerner referring to conservatives as “assholes” and “crazies.”
Professor Tiefer didn’t say a word for about five seconds before he muttered,“I’m sorry?”
“Would you seat a juror, in a trial, who referred to your client as an obscene body part?” Gowdy repeated.
“I really have trouble to giving you an answer except that—“ Tiefer began before being interrupted by the South Carolina Republican.
“Well, then you would starve to death as a lawyer if you can’t answer that question, professor,” Gowdy said.“You would seriously consider seating a juror in a trial, a criminal trial, where your client was accused of a crime, if that juror had referred to your client as an obscene body part, you would struggle with whether or not to strike that juror?”
“Well, it doesn’t sound too good,” the professor responded.
“No, it’s not,” Gowdy responded.“And I’ll give you some free litigation advice: You’re going to want to use one of your strikes on that juror.”
Gowdy then asked the professor to imagine that he was a prosecutor and one of the jurors referred to the police as “terrorists” who might bring the country down. When asked if he would seat that juror, Tiefer said he didn’t see the connection between Gowdy’s line of questioning and the investigation into the IRS scandal.
“I’ll give you the connection!” Gowdy proclaimed.“Lois Lerner just referred to conservatives as an obscene body part and she said we were ‘crazies’ and likened us to terrorists!”

It is very interesting to me that when a comment/question is posed about something most people instead of voicing how they feel or responding to it want to bash one party or the other. If you ask me that is what is wrong with politics these days. So I will take a more rational approach and state of course I'd love to have everything my way all the time. In truth though that isn't how a democracy works. There are too many sides and opinions to represent that if we get a 40/60 deal it's a good deal because each side gets a little of what they want. Also it can work flip side some of the rest of the time. I miss the Clinton days when people worked together. I've seen Obama try to do this and basically get told the other side wanted 'all or nothing'. I hear the same thing from some of the democrats and that isn't how governing should be, if that was the case anyone could do it.

I honestly don't know much about Dine but he seems to have the same ideals as Paul. I used to like Paul but now I understand that doing away with the government and all governmental influence would be a mistake in my opinion. The spying everyone gripes about started with Reagan and was meant to keep us safe. Both Bush and Obama expanded on it when it was necessary to do so. Also because of how Bush expanding the 'spying' we were able to track cell phones to find missing people. So not all of it is used for bad things. Should there be limits? Perhaps but then you'd have to be open to limits on guns and everything else. In truth...where would it end?

I will look Dine up because he might run again and because you seem interested in him and I like to be informed.

I do however wish they would limit the amount of funds that can go into the campaigns because it would give people who are lesser known a shot at actually winning. or getting enough votes to have a chance at winning the next time they run. I would like to hear more about the less mainstream people that run for office.

It amazes me how many people still think Obama is a Muslim. I thought that McCain cleared that up at his 'meeting' when he was running for office and he said that was false when some crazy woman was ranting and raving about that. If McCain hadn't went with Sarah as a running mate he'd have had a much better chance. I guess people pick and choose what their truth is...even if it's not rational or based in reality....right?

If only DEMS create deficits, why can't CONS elect a strong, fiscally conservative President, who was willing to stand up to them and rein in spending?

And if no CON President has managed to rein in spending, over at least the last 30 years, why should we ever elect another CON President?

Sure it's a good idea to bring up the Deficit. Your hero Reagan created as much as $5 Trillion of the Deficit and we've been paying interest on it for 30 years now. Bush 43 lied to drag us into a war of aggression and created $2 Trillion more in Deficit related to them and he killed almost 5,000 real heroes..The expense of those wars, including veteran benefits, continues to add to the Deficit today. Bush 43 also added $.5 Trillion more in Deficit by pushing through Medicare Part D.

His Daddy, Bush 41, was a big spender too, adding further to the Deficit. So NON - CONs should talk about the Deficit, since CONS created $10 Trillion or more of it and committed us to keep paying interest upon interest on it. Conservative CONS ?

Hahaha!

I noticed that you didn't answer the: "Why should we ever elect another CON President, since none of them have been fiscally responsible during the last 30+ years?" question. Why not, Max?

Reagan/Bush#1 created continued prosperity and growth for the American Middle Class which lasted through part of Clinton's/Squishy Bushies administrations.

Obama created vast wealth for the Criminal Special Interest Elitist Liberal Class at an enormous expense of America and the American Middle Class in the tone of trillions of dollars.

So you deny the fact that Reagan's and Bush 41's fiscal irresponsibility created Trillions of dollars in Deficits? That we've had to pay interest upon interest on since then? Educate yourself, Max. Or continue to be the ignorant CON doormat that you've been.

GOP Admits It's Hypocritical To Sue Obama Yet Urge Him To Act Alone On Border Crisis

A pair of House Republicans admitted on Friday that it made little sense to sue President Barack Obama over executive overreach and, at the same time, urge him to act without Congress to solve the border crisis.

"Look, you can't say on the one hand that the president is overreaching by acting without legislative authority and direction and then refuse to give him legislative authority and direction in another area," Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), a frequent voice of moderation in the House GOP conference, said on MSNBC's "The Daily Rundown."

In a stunning defeat on Thursday, House leadership scrapped a scheduled vote on a border bill after a last-minute revolt by conservative members. The conference is meeting again Friday morning to discuss retooled legislation, delaying the planned August recess. In a statement explaining the postponement, House GOP leaders placed the onus on the White House to act without congressional authority.

"There are numerous steps the president can and should be taking right now, without the need for congressional action, to secure our borders and ensure these children are returned swiftly and safely to their countries," they said in a joint statement.

But that rationale raised eyebrows across Washington after House Republicans voted the day prior to authorize House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to sue the president for acting without Congress in delaying enforcement of the health care law they oppose.

Cole, an ally of Boehner, conceded as much on Friday.

"We've got a good bill that actually addresses the problem, a problem the president has identified but refused to produce a solution to, provides an adequate amount of money to get us to the end of the year," he said. "We'll give him additional resources next year. But the first thing is to actually pass legislation across the House floor. So I'll tell you that's what we're going to do today. I'm not going to point a lot of fingers at the president until we get our own job done."

Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) echoed Cole's remarks on MSNBC, promising Republicans were not leaving town until they vote on some sort of legislation to address the influx of unaccompanied minors crossing the border.

"We can't go home until we pass a bill. That's why we're staying here, that's why we're going to get the job done," he said.

Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer lambasted House Republicans for the "ridiculous" move on Thursday night.

"It is ridiculous to sue the president on a Wednesday because he oversteps the law, as he has done a dozen times illegally and unconstitutionally," the conservative commentator said on Fox, "and then on a Thursday say that he should overstep the law, contradict the law that passed in 2008 and deal with this himself."

Boehner appeared to acknowledge the matter on Friday, when he tweeted that, "Every president issues executive orders & takes action where he can. Most of them, though, do so within the law."

That prompted a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to tweet back, "This is officially a hot mess."

Hypocrisy is the name of the game with the Republicans in Congress.

They think the American people are as stupid as their base and that is definitely not the case. November will show them that the rest of us are not going to play this game anymore it is time for them to be shown the door. They do not want to work for the people, they want to obstruct and blame this president for all of their failures.

IT WON'T WORK!!! REPUBLICANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MESS IN WASHINGTON, NOT THE PRESIDENT AND NOT THE DEMS. REPUBLICANS PURE AND SIMPLE.

VOTE DEMOCRATIC IN NOVEMBER, END THIS INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!
