Anyone know what's up with the Sara Lee Outlet Store? Haven't been any cars in the parking lot lately and there seems to be a sign in the door - haven't stopped to read what it says. Figured someone here would know the skinny.

Higher ups from out of town came in and shut them down. No business. Just like several places in WP, locals don't support their own. So very sad! Come on WP, support your local businesses!

I would have gladly supported them had I known they even existed. Maybe they should have done some advertising. Where was this place located?

We DID support them and there were always other customers in the store when I shopped there.

And I really understand "hmmmm" questioning their location - they were on Hwy 63, north of West Plains, right next to the Dodge dealership.

Business is West Plains do a lousy job of marketing and promoting themselves - I think it's one reason they come and go as quickly as they do. I can name several businesses I didn't hear about until they advertised a "Going Out Of Business" sale.

Most can't afford to support local buisnesses because they are higher then anywhere else for the same crap you can get anywhere. Plus nobody knows some are even open for buisnes. I never heard of a Sara Lee outlet store in 20yrs in West Plains. I know a feller named Lee but don't think his wife owned an outlet store because her name was Karen.

Thanks for the info on the location, too bad it is too late. I live on the south side of WP and rarely travel that far north on 63 as there isn't really anything out that direction. The times I have gone that direction I was paying more attention to merging into traffic.

Location Location Location. It's all about the Location and the Location north of town is not a very good Location because of the traffic. I never saw a town where stores are built wherever the property owner wants to builds one. most towns have neighborhoods and buisnes sections, not mixed like this town, no wonder alot don't make it in this town.

I can tell you why bussinesses in West Plains don't last, most places have lousy costumer service, I'd rather drive the extra few miles to Mt. Home where they seem to appreciate your bussiness more. I have gone into the Jewlery Store a couple times to have a battery replaced, both times they were out even though I was told to come back and they would some in a couple days. Well I went to Johnson's Jewler's in Mt. Home and they had me in and out of there in about ten minutes, so they now get all my jewlery bussiness. Same with Sears in West Plains, a couple years ago we were looking at kitchen stoves there. I had an interest in one and there were at least three employees there, no other customers but they were all gathered at check outs just goofing off. I did thinks like pick up the burner rack and set it back down just to make noise to get their attention and still nothing. We hung around for a few minutes thinking eventually someone would ask if we need help. Well low behold as we were heading out the door they asked if they could help us, but at that point I just told them no Thanks, not now. I also told them they could have had a sale on a stove but we will go where we know they appreciate thier customers. We ended up getting one from the Sears in Mt. Home, their service dept. is a whole not better too cause I have had to get parts for my old stove a couple times from there.
